Wow, wow, wow! The Ocean Retreat was everything and more than I expected. I stayed here with my husband and 5 close friends to celebrate my 50th birthday and it suited our needs perfectly. With 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms it meant everyone had their own space. The house was clean and provided us with lots of essentials such as tea, coffee and all pantry necessities. The views are incredible and it is so easy to relax and have an enjoyable time. The plunge pool was divine and we certainly took advantage of the amazing summer weather. This was certainly a fabulous place to celebrate a milestone birthday. Thanks so much Nigel, Courtney and Netty for making our stay incredible ❤ I would definitely love to stay again sometime!

We loved the house! We really felt that nothing was missing. A group of 8 girlfriends go away together every year or so and we’ve decided that we don’t need to look for anywhere else!
The pool was perfect, lovely and clean. The bedrooms spacious, beds very comfortable and an en-suite in each room- amazing!
The kitchen and butlers pantry just perfect for all our food and wine.
There was enough lounge seating too, which for a group of 8 can be hard to find sometimes. The dining table- brilliant for a long lunch!
The only negative will be next time there’ll be tenants in the next door units so we won’t have as much privacy. We do laugh a lot!
What a perfect place! We will definitely be back!

Love this place so much, have stayed here a few times. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise, you feel like you are in the ocean!
The place is quiet, neat, clean and comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing weekend away.
Can't wait to stay here again!

Booked this for a family group of 10 (incl two young children). Was a great stay overall. The view is amazing and the deck and pool area is lovely to hang out in - that really makes the place. Large living and dining area, and each bedroom has its own bathroom so that was also good for our larger family group. There was also a small TV/play room which worked well for the kids and meant they didn't always have to be playing in the main living room. Kitchen very well equipped, and the separate butler's kitchen was also great for our larger group as it meant we weren't all crowding into same space making breakfast etc. The new house being built next door is very close but, while it is a shame it is being built there, the view isn't blocked. I can recommend this property for a larger group, which can then make the per-day cost reasonable (for a couple or family it might not be luxury enough to justify the price tag if you weren't using the whole place). I found the service very good. WiFi is patchy.

The place is a disappointment. Generally it feels cold, there's not much character or personality and the bedroom is really plain. The view is excellent but there are houses next to you and not much privacy. Kitchen is decently equipped and dining room is decent, but that's about it. There seems to be a lot of rules, things are not quite in ample supply - e.g. no phone, internet is limited, only 4 Nespresso coffee pods provided. You don't feel the generosity or human touch here.

For the price you pay, I am expecting more, and coming from places like Rocky Hills Retreat and Thalia Haven, this one just doesn't quite cut it, and I thought it'd be best to present an alternative review here for other users, since the last one I see on TA is in 2015 and all seem to be extremely favourable.

The location is not that great - far from attractions (key attractions like Bay of Fires is over an hour's drive away) and main towns, yet none of the privacy or seclusion that would make it special.

Decided to give up one night's stay here, and move to our next destination (Launceston) a day earlier to get more mileage out of our holiday.
