My children started piano lesson this year and so far so good. The lesson comes with a piano lesson book which had been broken down in easy to understand lesson; my children are learning very quickly even though they never learn piano before.
We had Andrew initially as the piano teacher; he was excellent with children ; he left now so we have a different teacher recently. Kids settled down with the new teacher well too.

Two of my children have had group piano lessons with Learning Through Music over the last 5 years at their school.
My children have enjoyed the lessons and they have been beneficial to their learning of a new skill.
LTM staff are always friendly to communicate with.

My daughter has been learning violin since she was in Year 2 with Learning Through Music (Woodville). She is currently in Year 5 and still enjoying learning her instrument. She was also accepted early into the school band because of her ability.

Both of my children are enrolled with learning through music at Tea Tree Gully Primary School. The music teachers are passionate about what they do and my children, learning piano and singing, benefit greatly and enjoy their weekly lessons.

My daughter has been learning guitar through Learning Through Music's 'in school' program. Having access to music lessons through school is fantastic and we were very excited to be able to access this program.

Unfortunately we have been quite disappointed. Whilst our daughter loves attending her guitar lesson, over the course of the year she has learnt little.

Admittedly, early in the year her attention span was limited, however as the year has progressed she has matured well into learning and has become better at regular practice.

An absence of some form of curriculum, learning approach/goals, appropriateness of music content and general feedback has meant that she is still playing the same 4 riffs that were given to her at her first lesson (which encompass ACDC, White Stripes and the like - not exactly accessible to a 5 year old).

I have engaged Learning Through Music in term three and four, and whilst friendly, have not been notified of any follow up action, or indeed, observed any change. I have also discussed these concerns with the teacher who acknowledged the challenges he was having teaching younger students. From afar, it would appear that in this instance, the teacher would benefit from stronger support through Learning Through Music (it should be noted that a readily available music tuition book was required to be purchased as part of the program. This book however, has never been used, nor is it suitable for reception level children who are just starting to learn to read. Unfortunately, this turn out to be an unnecessary cost).

Learning an instrument is a wonderful pursuit. It is also a challenging one. For us, we wanted to give our daughter a positive experience, and rather than force it, attempt to excite her about creating music. For us, this means that students are supported to set goals and achieve them, together, and then leverage those achievements through celebration.

As the year nears end, I'm hoping that Learning Through Music can successfully address some of the issues we've experienced in 2020, and offer an assurance of a better service in 2021.
