Supanova Adelaide

Supanova 2022 adelaide i thought was off to a pretty slow and small start this year. Not too many people in costumes this year and there is alot of pins and dice merchandise. No hobbit or lotr stands, little to no harry potter, little to no adventure time, also no events to watch while waiting for celebrities to meet. Very few stands this year so dont go to the event too early to meet your favourite celebrities. I walked past the same people constantly and a number of people i walked past were getting bored. A while back they had wrestling and knights fighting but no events inside really to watch and be entertained by. Except for watching people play video games However. The coffee stand i went to was amazing the camomile tea was fantastic and at a low price. $20 off for pre purchase tickets, and many safe places to sit while people can have their lunch. So this is it. It looks like a whole new generation for supanova is here while new characters have been bought into place and a few of the classics remain. As for me this year was incredibly inspiring i have become inspired by these new characters of which i have yet to meet and i cannot wait to dive in and read all the latest editions of books, comics, i may even watch a few cartoons, and even start doing more puzzles and games. I have become very inspired and ready to live my life to even more of the fullest i am officially ready for out with the old and in with the new. Also thankyou to john jaratt for his amazing work today and also his supervisor he is with today both lovely gentlemen who have both given me intirely new inspiration. Thankyou supanova 2022.

I wasn't sure what to expect considering its the first 'post lockdown/ covid' show I have attended. First the negative.....where were all the stalls? It only took me 40 mins to walk around everywhere and have a bit of a look, I would have thought there would be more stall holders eager to get back into the swing of things. There wasn't a lot of options as far as purchases go. Next....there was not much to do or watch if you weren't seeing a guest, I had a 10 Yr old who ended up sitting on the floor coloring in a book. And lastly, before the good stuff....in photo booths the staff were way to eager to move you on and in a couple of cases were actually pushy. No one was trying to linger but one or two people just tried to quickly tell the gust how much they enjoyed meeting them etc and were hurried along. I've not experienced that in previous years....OK, now the good.....big thumbs up for getting international guests back in, it was great to see some famous faces and meet a couple of teenage heroes of mine in Michael Biehn and Sam Jones. Volunteers were great as usual on the floor and in the autograph lines, friendly and helpful. Being able to scan tokens from your phone and the overall ease 9f booking them was great. Schedules were easy to understand and the general set up was easy to navigate.

I look forward to Next year and am keeping fingers crossed that it will be back to regular size and will bring the crowds back in!

I've been an exhibitor at Supanova for the last 2 years and I gotta say I'm really unimpressed.
Parking - terrible
Staff - messy
Organisation - poor
Signage - minimal
I know of a few Adelaide cosplayers that are completely boycotting Supanova, because of how bad it is.
The bearded staff that directed patrons around and showed the way to the entrance literally shouted at me "this way" on the first day and just kept pointing at the doors, I could see the doors, not necessary to shout and point like a goober as well. Then I had to turn around because the exhibitors have to pick up their wristbands elsewhere to everyone else, which was not clear in the information provided on the digital ticket.
The staff also tried to help themselves in picking up our stuff within our booth area, totally inappropriate. We didn't go around picking up their bunting, so leave our stuff alone, even if you are friendly with us.
The parking is atrocious, for some reason they have people standing in the carpark telling people where to park and they block exits and give zero explanation, just point.
There are much less cosplayers at Adelaide Supanova than most other events that are similar.
A store called Popclutcha run the show basically, they are the first shop you see upon entering and they throw balls around the place, making the environment somewhat unsafe. They are the golden child though, so nothing they do could be wrong.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this event to people because of how poorly managed and organised it is.
