Lancefield Cemetery

Lancefield is on the land of Wurundjeri traditional owners.
The cemetery was opened in 1860 and is still in use, with a lot of historical graves, and more recent burials. Parking is on the side of the road out front. The yard itself is large and on a slight uphill incline. Some paths are paved and some are pebble, but well maintained, so it is relatively good accessibility for people with limited mobility. There is very little shade apart from a small rotunda, but seating is provided and there is a modern toilet block, rubbish bins and water on the site. The yard is laid out in clearly signposted sections, and records of burials for more than a hundred years are available from the local historical society. Older graves are kept in good condition and many are still readable.
