I climbed the stair case to the Mt Bogong summit and back again in about 10hrs. A very hard walk, not for the faint hearted.

A fantastic huge national park covering quite a bit of the Victorian Alpine Region. So many great walking tracks, fantastic in summer when the weather is warmer and all the wildflowers are out.

We spent the Day driving from Licola to Dargo....what a spectacular day.

Be aware the 4x4 tracks are challenging, and extremely slippery in the wet. The all weather road was fine.

Trail done: Mount feathertop via razorback, completed in autumn.
This was a 22km roundtrip hike. We started off at Diamantina hut, where most people parked along the side of the road. The terrain itself wasn't too difficult. Path was mostly rocky with some rather flat and easy sections. There were steeper sections which were harder to cross but they were relatively short with no major rock scrambling. Most tiring part would be the 1.6 km towards the peak.
We completed this in 8 hours with plenty of photo taking along the way.
Note no toilets at entrance, except federation hut which is a slight detour from this track near to the peak.

Hours and hours of fun. Still a little pricey but you can’t beat the time it takes to get here from Melbourne. Spring skiing if you are lucky enough to have enough snow is amazing. No crowds and blue sky days.

Great place to Mountain bike during the off season. Others into hiking or horse riding. Excellent free camping, bike hub in village has some bike spares, maps and shuttles. Bike parts vending machine in main village is cool, see pic. A couple of other places in the village hire MTB bikes. Love "Flow Town", but a long ride up if you don't have a shuttle ticket. Lots of friendly people camping, riding and more made some new friends.

The Wild flowers in February is spectacular! I was told that the wild flowers are even more amazing in December!! Wow!

Once getting up here, the walks here are generally of easy grade, allowing a relaxing time to visit the many huts around the area. The huts are another feature of the Alpine area.

The national has had some great work done to it in terms of cleaning up tracks & signage. It is a beautiful place with a variety of wonderdul sights to see. Filled with wildlife and places to stop, relax & have a picnic.
It is unfortunate that people visiting the pack do not take their rubbish with them, especially alcohol cans it seems.

Fantastic views,
Victoria high country is one of the best places in the world.
There are plenty of camp sites, mountain, walking and hiking trails also nice 4wd tracks.
And Alpine is the 💓 of this park.
There are always something to enjoy from snow to swim.
You just need to make sure to check the weather and. Be prepared.

I came here just after the road opened for summer. The streets need a bit more safety to them, don't drive here if you're tired! The scenery is great though, no matter what weather.

Visited during the Easter long weekend in April 2019 and it was absolutely stunning. No snow but still a bit chilly. The views, sunshine and paths were amazing. Fishing, Hiking and mountain biking are the active things you can do. There are heaps of tracks and long kilometres in length. We actually rode up to the summit. Crazy and rewarding experience. Sky lifts for $20 roundway is a bit of a scam though. Definitely a must visit and not too busy in autumn too.

A scenic days drive through Victoria's High Country and the Alpine National Park from Dinner Plain through Omeo, Anglers Rest, Rocky Valley, Falls Creek, Bogone, Mount Beauty, Bright, Hotham Alpine Village back to Dinner Plain. Stop off at Omeo and Bright to refuel the car and body. Toilets available at Rocky Valley Dam and Mount Beauty (try the bakery for a decent lunch menu or snack). Sullivan's Lookout on Tawonga Gap Road worth a stop for a view of Mount Beauty. Be warned that this is a seasonal drive as a large section of Bogong High Plains Road is closed during winter. Apart from the stops mentioned, services are few and far between. Well worth the trip.

Amazing national park! Did some backcountry skiing and snow camping near Kelly's Hut and Pretty Valley Pondage. I cannot get enough of the High Plains. Definitely worth a day or couple nights out!

Great mountains for hiking. We entered from Mansfield. The local tourist info has a really good map for $8. Good walks and drives clearly labelled.
