Mt Terrible Hut

Awesome views. And a very meet hut.

Basic hut to get away from the cold, bring your own kindling and a few pieces of wood and lighter for the pot belly... great 4wd with snow during this time of year, but check your forecaste, if you want snow, wait till it's at least falling below
1,100...

We visited on a warm sunny day, the view was incredible and the person in the fire watch tower was friendly and waved to us which was lovely. The track we took to get there definitely requires a 4 wheel drive with low range for the steep inclines and you needed good ground clearance for the washouts but overall, the track was well maintained and not too difficult.

Nice drive up, could do it in high range on a dry day but due to rain on the day low range was was go for us. No need for winching on the way up either.

One of my favourite places to 4x4. Great track up and then over the other side as you travel along the crest of the hills. Camped once on the top. Bring your own water and camera!

One of the best views from a hut in the high country. Newly rebuilt hut with a bit belly inside if you are staying up the night. Picnic tables and a fire pit out the front. Not a hard 4wd track to get to it just steep in a few spots.

Great riding up Mt Terrible, there are some fun parts if you are keen or you can take the chicken runs around them!

Rocky road but very straightforward along Mt Terrible track, nice hut and great views, only about an hour or so from Jamieson so really accessible

Stunning views and although the hut was destroyed in fire in 2012 it was rebuilt. The views from the hut are great. There is a visitor book and 2 long benches. No fireplace 😭 inside but there is on in front of the hit and 2 picnic tables overlooking the view.

It a rough ride on a four wheel drive would not do it if it even looks like it going to rain. Should go with min two vehicle. Please look after it . Take rubbish home. Enjoy for all. :)

A picturesque hut, sitting on top of Mount Terrible. Access here is via a 4WD only, on a difficult rated track (as per our Hema.)

There are picnic tables to enjoy some lunch or simply soak in the endless mountain ranges.

Great spot for a break . View is primo . Very relaxing . The old hut burnt down in fires in the region but they did a good job on the new one .

Excellent drive, track mostly good anyone with a 4wd is capable of completing this drive

Well taken care of, campers take pride in this hut.. shows a real sense of community within 4wders and hikers alike!! Amazing views.. just remember, pay it forward guys! 👍👍

Great view and great spot. I can remember when the track to the top was only possible via 4x4. Very easy track now.

A great effort by DELWP and the A4-4 Memorial Team to rebuild this hut after the sad demise of the original. On a clear day the views from the veranda have to be seen to be believed!

Awsome dirve through and around surrounding areas great hut with modern wood heater and Awsome views. Will sleep over in the near future.

Been up to Mt Terrible too many times to count. I never get sick of the view from the top. The drive up is always fun too.
