North East Rail Trail

A great bike ride. Gentle gradient on a reasonable surface. Well signposted and really informative information boards.

This trail is such a nice trail. There was little to no rubbish on the trail, there are many artifacts around the place too. Riding this trail on a bike is probably the best way to enjoy this trail but you can also walk, run, jog ect. As a outdoors person, i would definetely come back and ride this trail again, it gets you out just enough to enjoy the outdoors and nature and as it is an old rail way, it will pass most towns.

Great have just finished the ride. I will say more once I have cleaned up. Well done Scottsdale Rotary. Pity that more tracks are not in your area.

An iconic 26km rail trail, soon to be extended by 40km to Lilydale. It needs a destination point at the Eastern end, initially Ledgerwood then old Derby station. Gentle slopes and surface suitable for hybrid / touring bikes but great on a mountain bike. Passes through a range of forest types and impressive granite cuttings. Access for walking or riding at Scottsdale, Tonganah, signed 5km east of Scottsdale on A3, or Tullendenah at the eastern end of the trail where it meets the A3.A great family day out.

Very good rail trail, starts in the town, goes all the way up to billycock hill-tasman highway. The trip is very time consuming but could easily be shorten half way. Their is a drinking station and some huts to rest alongthe way. The scenery is very lush, wallabies abound, and the terrian is not too steep but you will feel very tired around the 3 hour mark. The history of the trail is impressive, you learn quite a lot about how it was built and what was transported. The trip back down is a lot faster, as you can can speed down the mountain very quickly. Once back in Scottsdale, the rail trail goes through past Agserve, to where the old station is now closed off. The rail track line continues all the way down to Lyidale and to Coldwater creek. This is expected to be opened up to cyclists in the near future, complementing an alredy great rail trail experince.

Great trai with lots of interesting features. Easy grabbed gravel surface.

Great ride for all ages, manageable inclines and shade from Sun in the main. Thank you to those who created and maintain the track, a great addition for the North East.

Rail corridors are for trains, not mostly unwanted bike/recreational trails.
