Short walk (maybe 300m) from the car park up a modest incline and some steps up to the platform reward you with a view all the way up the coast to Port Macquarie on a clear day. Turn left after you head down from the platform and the trail loops back to the carpark past another cliff top platform that looks down into a ‘gap’. Easier walk back this way also.

Platform with nice 180 degree plus views. Quickest is a 5 minute walk from top of Black Head beach

Great whale watching platform a short 5 minute walk through the bush. Yesterday (October) we saw more than 10 whales in half an hour between 300m and 1km out to sea. Take binoculars for added benefit.

Well, if it wasn't for Google Maps showing us the way, we may not have found this little secret! Even when Google told us we were there, we had some difficulty finding it, lol. The Council signage leaves a lot to be desired, or maybe they just don't want heaps of people traipsing along the little bush track to get to it. Either way it was worth the discovery, although we didn't spot any whales. The view was beautiful and the platform was in pretty decent condition and our family visitors from interstate had to admit that it was a pretty spot. It's not suitable for wheelchairs as the track was slippery and damp and was only a track, and of course the stairs could prove taxing for those who have physical impairments.
