Nola is a great place to hang for a while and enjoy both food and atmosphere. It also has a very large number of whiskeys , and a few signature cocktails which are quite inventive and delicious.
My friend and I went on a Friday evening, which was busy and the downstairs area was full , but there was seating on the second floor so we took the stairs . It’s amazing how many people you can sit in a small place - but it adds to the atmosphere. There is both a bar upstairs and downstairs- form what I could see the beers were more downstairs, but the cocktail bar was situated on the second floor .There was also live music while we were eating , so that definitely was an added bonus .
The staff are all friendly and welcoming and quite happy to explain anything to you if asked . I also enjoyed watching the bar staff make a few cocktails , it was it’s own form of entertainment.
If we’re talking food , think Creole , Southern US , Louisiana type fare backed up by an amazing variety of whiskeys from around the world . My whiskey sour was made with Buffalo Trace , which is a smoked bourbon whiskey that I love.
The food was good - standouts were the burnt pork bites and the amazing jalapeño cornbread- they should sell that to takeaway because it was amazing and so full of flavour .
The only downside was that I couldn’t hear the musician better because most people were talking , but it was a Friday evening so I suppose that’s par for the course .
Definitely worth a few more visits , and would be great midweek late to just sit at the bar and enjoy the whiskey .

We have a new go-to in Adelaide!
Recently we took a short trip to Adelaide so making the right choice for lunch was very important. Thankfully we had heard great things about NOLA so we decided to head there.
We advised the staff that we didn’t have a booking and were pleasantly surprised to hear they don’t take them so this got our dining experience off to a great start.
We grabbed a table upstairs and ordered via the QR code making everyone’s lives easier. On order was Cornbread, BBQ Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Smoked Bacon Mac and Cheese, Spicy Corn Ribs, Cajun Roasted Cauliflower with Almonds and Blue Cheese and lastly, Frickles which were Lightly battered dill pickles with fermented jalapeno aioli. To be fair we ordered A LOT because we basically could not rule any of the above dishes out.
The food was outstanding to say the very least. It was really hard to choose a favourite here so we rounded it down to 3. The Spicy Corn Ribs, BBQ Pork Belly and the Cauliflower were the most balanced and delicious of all. That’s not to take away from the others, it’s just that those made us go wow!
The atmosphere at this restaurant was also great. The music was not too loud but contained a seriously good playlist.
Additionally, the staff were friendly but gave us just the right amount of space to take our time with our meals and leave us to it. We are not afraid to say that we asked for take away containers for the leftovers here - and yes, it was that good!
All up, we can easily say we know where we’ll be eating next time we visit Adelaide!!

We went to Nola’s to hear some jazz and eat southern style food. Both were excellent . Great vibe here. If you haven’t tried Benye’s then do yourself a favour and try some

This is the best craft beer venue in Sydney and Adelaide. It has classy decor, with great craft beer and an amazing cauliflower salad. They played jazz over the speakers, which I love. The NOLA has booths you can sit in, which are very classy and comfortable. There is also an upstairs area. All they need is a double IPA on tap. However, the Hawkers IPA at 7% abv was very decent.

Who would have thought Chicken and Whiskey go together so well….. amazing fried chicken and extremely knowledgeable team members! Was able to nail exactly our whiskey preferences. Was a delight to have been suggested this place via a conversation in an elevator!!

Amazing food and great service. NOLA's fried chicken has to be some of the best I have had. Also recommend the brisket or shrimp po'boi and the hot shrimp dip. Beignets are a must for dessert.

For the whiskey lovers, they have a massive selection as well as a rotating list of great Aussie craft beers.

Lovely New Orleans inspired bar with delicious food. Service was great and I felt the prices were modest for what you got. Will swing by again.

What a lovely bar, with food available later than surrounding establishments.

The crumbed Chicken was delicious. Start with 3, and see how you go - it's quite filling.

Great selection of micro brewery beers on tap.

Will be back.

Went back again with a friend, and had 3 pieces of chicken each. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere.

Yaaaaaall. This was one of the best meals I’ve had in Australia. Not to mention the space was perfect (comfortable, unpretentious, the music wasn’t annoyingly loud, the staff was friendly and attentive). I’m only visiting Adelaide for a few days and I’m so sad I can’t eat here whenever I want. My table ordered the Big Easy and Every. Single. Dish. nailed it. I took one bite of that hot shrimp dip and I think I saw god. And the tater tots??? Are you kidding me???? I did not know potatoes could be improved until I ate these. Every dish was paced out well, you didn’t have to wait too long in between courses but you also weren’t being shoved out the door with dishes arriving too soon. You get seven courses altogether for $45, like what more can I say? An absolutely incredible value for money and the food was insane. Here’s hoping this is a spot that one day lands a Michelin star and I get to say, “I went there before it had the hype!” In conclusion since I can’t wax poetic forever even though I want to: come hungry, get the Big Easy, and prepare yourself for a religious experience.

Revisited today. Fried chicken still delicious, tater tots too. And the beignet are still amazing.
Music selection very funky but a bit loud for dinner.
Fried chicken leaves the chain version in the dust. Delicious! Tater tots are not like bland frozen things you might get from the supermarket. Amazing.
The beignet are slightly different from last visit but still sweet and delicious.
Staff are welcoming and efficient. Service time spot on.
Highly recommended.

Highly recommended. It's a great venue and as a whiskey affectionado it has an immense range.
The food is excellent, southern American, right and delicious. I was delighted by the in house whiskey blends in small casks. I tried the american(others were not ready) it was delicious and unique!
I would highly encourage you to try this place yourself it's on my must visit again list next time I'm in Adelaide.

I don’t know where to start with this little slice of heaven. Most people would start with the chicken but that’s incredibly 1 dimensional and Nola is anything but that. I came to Adelaide nearly 1 year ago with an empty stomach and a dream, and Nola welcomed me with open arms. I’m still working on the dream, but Nola has filled my stomach on multiple occasions.

Every time I walk in I’m greeted by the friendly staff, excellent service, and sensational food and drinks. In a city with great restaurants Nola continues to stand head and shoulders above its competition. The vibe is immaculate, the drink selection is superb, and the chicken is crispy. There’s not much more someone can ask for in my opinion.

Proper food packed full of authentic flavour and not just the usual uninspired 'American' cuisine.

And even better booze selection!

Easy to find and a great little eclectic pub. Large range of craft beers in a cosy setting. Staff are always great and the small food menu won’t disappoint. Perfect for groups of 5 or less or taking a date. Try the beer paddle, great value for money and opportunity to try a few beers at once.

Second time back - food was the delicious and memorable. Louisiana-style comfort food - they know what they're offering and they do it well.
Great range behind the bar as well, and a real vibe with great music choice, lighting and seating available.
Great for a pre-fringe meet-up with friends, pre-drinks, snacks, casual dinner.
A go-to in Adelaide, tucked away in a street with many great competitors around, Nola holds it ground. Will be back again - thanks to the staff at Nola for being rad!

Chased down with a couple of pints, a serve of fried chicken and ribs was the perfect amount of food between the two of us.
Great southern menu and more adventurous items on the list for those seeking something out of the norm. Even on a Sunday night, the place was electric - highly recommend!
