Ritchies IGA Merbein

The staple of my childhood, getting a free apple on my birthday, coming with dad after school to grab groceries and smokes, in the old, white, Holden Commodore.

There are MANY stories like mine, attached to this place.
Each and every one of them precious to those who hold them close.

This store is Merbein’s soul.
A pillar of the community.
So tightly tied to the town, it may as well be a heritage-listed site (if it isn’t actually heritage-listed already).
The staff are always lovely, the store has a comforting feel to it, regardless of how much of a facelift they give it. The variety of stock and produce is brilliant.
Parking is just out front and there’s usually always a spot free.

Richie's IGA is a great franchise. The staff are polite and friendly, you can usually get good deals there.
The only problem is that they don't like hiring older staff. I know someone who is 60 years young, put in a resume for a night manager's position. She had all the experience, didn't mind the hours, it was for weekend work. She had no commitments. They didn't even look at her resume, she was told they wanted kids that had just finished school...for manager? She could have taken it further but didn't, unfortunately.

Most polite staff I have located for a long time. And being a Queenslander , that makes you feel very welcome.

For all of your grocery needs, this is the supermarket in Merbein to go too. Excellent customer service and so friendly, so organised and bright, if I needed any help I certainly would come here.

A very local feeling store. Staff are friendly and know many of the regular customers. It's a smaller supermarket but still has all the essentials and still at great prices which was a nice surprise.

Had awesome experience at this IGA. I was not able to find Vegan sandwich in their food section. I ask the lady at front counter and she freshly make a vegan sandwich for me.
