Had a wonderful tour and tasting.
Staff looked after me, really well - I was on Crutches, made sure I had a seat throughout both tours and tasting.
It's the little things that make experiences that much more for some of us.

We all enjoyed it very much, including having a baby with us, but we didn't upset anyone .

I highly recommend you put this destination on your itinerary.
Lots interesting things to see at the distillery.

The only thing lacking would be a picnic lunch.

What an incredible place! By far my favorite distillery. They run distillery tours and tastings for FREE (which would cost at least $50 elsewhere), this place is like a library for spirits. Divine gins and very rare whiskys. Their bar also has amazing G&Ts for an unbeatable price.
The road is a bit rough to come down but it's perfectly fine for 2wd (a ferrari was there too). Places like this one are really hard to find nowadays.

Historic spot with Scottish roots. Ghost town turned distillery in a great clearing. Owners very passionate and informative to provide an overview of the operations and all the different products they have on offer. Tasting 13 different products from gin to whisky made for some delightful surprises. Much enjoyed by the whole group!

Historic site turned distillery

I am thrilled to share my positive experience at the historic site turned distillery! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the owners who were incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Even though we arrived just before closing time, they took the time to walk us through the distillery process and shared their passion for creating exceptional gins.

What made our visit even more special was learning about the rich local history that surrounds the distillery. The owners shared fascinating stories about the site's past and how they have worked to preserve its legacy through their craft.

Not only were the owners passionate about their craft and local history, but they were also patient and engaging. They answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to make sure we had a truly memorable experience.

But let's talk about the gin! The distillery's gin was simply incredible. We sampled a variety of flavors, each distinct and expertly crafted. We left with a bottle (or two!) and cannot wait to savor each sip.

Overall, I highly recommend visiting this distillery. Not only will you experience exceptional gin, but you will also meet the incredible owners who are truly passionate about their craft and local history. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!

A lovely local distillery in a beautiful location. The staff are extremely welcoming and m knowledgeable of the heritage, location and how whiskey/gin/rum/vodka is hand made.

This is a must visit location only 15 minutes out of Berrima for lovers of whiskey, gin or otherwise.

We were a bit confused if this was going to be open or not when we went last week, but we're very glad it was open. It's a little off the beaten track on a sometimes narrow dirt road, but don't let that dissuade you. The owners are very lovely and the lady gave us a great little tour of the distillery and answered all our questions. She was so knowledgeable of everything and all the gins and whisky's we got to taste. We went home with a bottle of the Pedro Ximenez which is a fortified wine from southern Spain. Joadja uses the empty barrels of this fortified wine to mature their Whisky in. Which is great recycling!! This fortified wine tastes like Christmas Cake in a bottle - delicious!

Great place to visit when in the highlands.
We found them to be very friendly people who are happy to show you around and explain every aspect of the working distillery. Taste testing is an added bonus 😉
Definitely worth going out of your way for

During our visit to Berrima, we stumbled upon an advertisement for Joadja Distillery, and it turned out to be a hidden gem worth the drive. I'm eager to return for the heritage tour of the ruins. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and treated to an incredibly informative tour of the distillery by the owner. He provided a thorough rundown of their impressive range of products, including gins and whiskeys. Sampling approximately 12-13 offerings made it difficult to choose just one to take home. Although there was no pressure to purchase, we're thrilled we did – the products are simply delicious.

It was my first visit in whisky distillery, and it was for me wonderful experience. Nice place when you are traveling through Southern Highlands. Good place to add to your trip plan between wineries. Everything nice except alkohol. Whisky overpriced. For less money, you can buy a way better whisky in local bottle shop or even two better ones for same amount of money. Same thing with brandy. I haven't try Gin yet, and I hope it is going to be better.

Joadja Distillery in the Southern Highlands is located about 90 minutes from Sydney on a historic site that was once a mining village. It is apt that this village was worked on by Scottish migrants to produce oil shale and now is a whisky distillery.

Today, the site gives a nod to the Scottish heritage of the area by producing single malt whisky as well as gin, rum, anis, vodka and brandy. If you’re interested in the history of the site, contact Joadja for more details since tours can be arranged.

The distillery is open Saturday and Sunday 10am - 5pm for whisky and gin tours and tastings.

Run by Elisa and Valero, with their Spanish background have access to quality sherries imported in casks directly from Jerez de la Frontera Spain. They subsequently use their barrels to age their whisky.

The distillery is in a purpose built structure, in keeping with the heritage design of the historic town and it is here that they produce, store and offer tastings.

We did a tasting with Elisa whilst there and they have two new releases to try of their first paddock to bottle whisky releases. Barley in the adjacent fields has been malted for their whiskies.

We began with their bourbon barrel aged whisky aged in ex Woodford reserve casks. The whisky is bottled at 62% and is a powerful beast. With strong toffee, vanilla and spice, flavours that are long lasting. They also have a 64% Woodford reserve bourbon barrel aged whisky, finished in an Oloroso Cask. Although the Abb is higher, the Oloroso cask which seems to mellow out the whisky, which is nice and smooth. The toffee, vanilla and spice thrown in and the sweetness from the Oloroso makes it a unique, complex and tasty whisky. This is due for release next week so keep an eye on their Facebook page or join the mailing list.

We purchased a bottle of their Pedro Ximenez. It was beautifully syrupy sweet with flavours of toffee, caramel and sultanas.

You can also try the rum and anis liqueur or their gin, using native botanicals. They were currently bottling up a new release for the NSW Governor with their botanicals.

It is always great to visit and learn from the distillers. Find yourself some quality handcrafted drinks

My partner and I stopped in on the recommendation of a local and boy are we glad we did! We were given a run down of how the new owners came to be and tasted their delicious gins and whiskeys and even purchased some to bring back home with us. Elisa is such a warm character, so passionate about her story and inviting with her approach. If you're every out that way, please stop in and share in the experience, you're in great hands!

My friends and I happened to stop by on a whim, and we were so glad we did.
the night before we went it had stormed and the creek had flooded, so we didn't get to see all the ruins from the town, but Valero was so lovely and accommodating telling us a bit about the history and showing us inside the distillery.

You have to do the tasting if you go! The Whisky was great and I'll be coming back for more once it's in stock, and we bought some of the fortified wine, gin, and rum. So pretty much everything we could get our hands on.

You have to stop here if you're going to be in the area.

Joanna is an incoming Australian distillery producing high quality whiskies.

They have a batch system with each batch being slightly different. That however is quite common for most small production distilleries around the world including icons like Sullivans Cove. Joanna is winning lots of awards and the whisky is amazing. Highly recommend it as a staple in any Australiana cabinet!

Great place. A bit of a hike to get there, but well worth it. We didn't make a booking but got a full tour of behind the scenes where all the magic happens. Staff very knowledgeable about thier craft. I'm sure the Scots would be stoked to know that whisky is being made in the valley again....in a proper distillery this time too :)

The access and ease of finding this hidden gem is well rewarded by a stunning location and an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and welcoming owner. The spirits produced are some of the finest and pure and unique, infused with the very spirit of the location, you will get from a small producer with free complementary tastings and included distillery tour the trip is well worth doing. Everything is produced on the property. Highly recommended and guaranteed you will leave with a bottle or two of some quality produce. Be sure to do the distillery tour to fully appreciate the provenance of the product. We will be back
