We were lucky at arrived when there was no queue on Christmas eve. Ordered the meat pie, steak & mushroom pie, lamb & rosemary and chicken kransky pastry. All were excellent and flavourful and fillings did not disappoint! Will go again next time we are down there.

This place is well known in South Australia for being on of, if not the best bakery. Having visited here and tried one of their special doughnuts, I have to agree. It was a brilliant experience and I would suggest anyone who visits the area stop here for a pie, coffee or dessert!

A Port Elliot institution ………

This place rocks especially during summer where you can expect to queue down the street …… but the short wait is worth it. On this they employ plenty of staff to pump through the people quickly so don’t be phased by the queue.

It has a few outside tables to sit at but not a lot so consider taking your stuff to somewhere like Freeman Lookout a nice green grassed park with toilets at the end of the Strand for some peace and quiet.

I recommend the pasties they are magnificent and for sweet tooth’s maybe donut of the month ….. but my fave is the local South Australian delicacy the Kitchener Bun a once a year treat for me.

Don’t miss this bakery is my final word.

Port Elliot Bakery, you do live up to your reputation! Yuuummmmo!
Back down the Fleurieu Peninsula visiting for a few weeks and this was on the ‘planned stop’ list. So much so that we have now been there at least half a dozen times over the last 2 weeks.
Their pies of the month; Chicken and Cranberry, and Hawaiian have been unreal. The other standout pastry for us has been the Mushroom and Cheese Parcel.
If you’re a sweet tooth, there are plenty of goodies to choose from.
The customer service has been very friendly every time we have visited, even when it was extremely busy, well done to everyone in there putting up with the ‘Christmas holiday busy period’.
We’ll be back soon for some more goodies!

Donut of the Month of December 2023 is Pavlova. Basically a sugared donut with custard cream, berries and meringue. And oh yeah, it's massive.

Would I drive an hour to get another one? Probably yes.

Would I come back next month to try the new one?
Probably yes.

Would I fly back here from Europe to try the next one?
Probably not.

Also try out other pastries while you're here. They look awesome. Especially the eclairs.

What an amazing place. This is one of the best bakeries I have tried in South Australia. Freshly baked every day. If I lived in Port Elliot, I would be here every morning. The bread is so soft, and the fillings were so delicious. The line is usually very long, but it's definitely worth the wait and i would 100% recommend this place.

The donuts were pretty good, very soft and fluffy.
Didn’t really like the Apple crumble.
Long queue so felt like rushed to make the decision before I could have a good look in the cabinet 😂

Arguably one of the best bakeries in South Australia. They have everything you would expect of a bakery.

Don’t be scared off if there are 50+ people lined up outside as they have over a dozen staff serving inside and the line moves super quick.

Insanely good bakery. I love trying the pie of the month. Last time I was in Australia was 2019 and I’ve thought about their chicken, Camembert cheese, and cranberry sauce pie quite often since then. Hope it comes back! Pricier than other bakeries.

Yum! Impressive selection of treats and the friendly staff made our first visit amazing. We enjoyed the Donut of the Month and our kids loved the donuts with rainbow sprinkles. We'll be back.

We try the pie and doughnut of the month every month. Last Sunday when we arrived there were over 100 people in line waiting. We went for a walk around the amazing cliffs, then went back with only about 10 in line. This place is iconic. The food is iconic. It's worth every km travelled to get there.

Wow. The perpetual queue outside this place says it all. So many make claims to having "the best pies in the world" but PEB may go closer than most to backing it up. We visited Port Elliot on a stunning autumn day last Monday which also happened to be my birthday so we were looking for a nice lunch option after a very enjoyable swim at Horseshoe Bay. Most of the local pub and brasserie options were lovely but also very $$$. My girlfriend saw the queue outside the bakery and decided this place is the bomb. She was right and we sampled a good selection. Best were the Kelly Pie and Donut of the Week.

Bakery was recommended to me by son-in-law. Great advice. Gluten free chocolate and caramel slice was the best. Non GF chocolate tart was also superb. Coffee pretty good too.

Biggest queue I've ever waited in for a bakery but I understood once we were eating. I got the monthly specials of the chicken satay pie and caramilk marble donut and they were both excellent. Worth a trip here if you're staying anywhere in the area.

Update: not every donut of the month are created equal. Just tried the Feb 2023 and it was the weakest we've tried. Lacking flavour and creativity.

Amazing Bakery! An absolute MUST to visit if you've never been! The donut of the month is always spectacular and cannot be missed! The same can be said about the pie of the month too! The hot chocolate popped off :D

Got the Egg Benedict pie which was different but one of the best pies I've had. My partner had a steak and mushroom which he also raved about.

The donut of the month was a coffee type one which was soooo good but not very coffee-ish, but I prefer this anyway. Light and fluffy dough with a decadent combo of hard and soft toppings.

Coffees were decent & staff very friendly. Didn't know how iconic this bakery was till after, very glad we went. Would defos recommend!
