Vintage Cafe

This steak pie was perfect! Crispy golden brown crust and a delicious stuffing makes your mouth water and is neither too salty or bland. It was surprisingly easy to cut into compared to other pies due to its thinner bottom and sides.. It has a puffy appearance almost like a pillow and is filled to the brim with their perfectly cooked beef. The location of the cafe, near the border of SA and VIC, in a quiet town, makes it a great place for adventurous eaters and travellers to have lunch and a well deserved break from the road! Definitely must try this!!!!

Just finished our brekkie here, and it was so good that I wanted to share a review straight away. Smashed avo for the lady, and Vintage scrambled eggs for me. Nice flat whites too. Quick and friendly service. Great start to the day!

Well, amazing coffee, no hiding in a short black, amazing. Yummy home made pies and banana bread. Great place for brunch before wine tasting. Staff were super friendly and service was excellent. 👍

What a great find this cafe was! During our stay in Penola we came 3 times and everything was spot on, pastries, scones fresh from the oven, eggs for brekkie. Good coffee and a slice of pumpkin pie to take home. And such friendly people too. 10/10.

Shiraz pie with a glass of Hollick Shiraz was just the ticket on a cool winters day.
Pie & relish combination was a delight to my palate, definitely the best pie I have eaten by far.

Simple looking but taste is astoundingly good! Chicken focaccia looks deceptively plain, chicken bites spread throughout with a tasty yet not overpowering sauce, the pine nuts added more texture. The breaky wrap reveals skilfully cooked eggs with delicious bacon, absolutely superb. The steak pie had a soft thin pastry unlike most others, blended really well with the stewed beef. The cheery smiles of those who served us topped the experience. Highly recommended cafe!!

Have been here quite a few times, yes you can wait a bit for your food but it is well worth the wait.
Today we came here for my birthday lunch as the pies here are to die for.
Unfortunately they were all sold out so I gave the pumpkin feta tart a go , this has now caused a problem as my next trip I won't be able to decide between the tart and pies.
The pumpkin tart has a lovely hint of cumin and the side salad is as fresh as it gets.
The staff are freindly but very busy.
Keep up the good work guys and those that want a quick meal grab a deli pie.

Just finished a Chicken Mushroom and Champagne pie. Seriously one of the best pies I have ever tasted. If you are heading to the Mount or coming up to Adelaide, take the detour through Penola and give your taste buds a treat.

On our way home from road trip, stopped in for breakfast and we all nearly inhaled the food it was SO GOOD!
Highly recommend a stop in here during your travels!!

Just moved in to my new house here in Penola, went in search of breakfast and found the Vintage Cafe on the high Street. Good friendly service and tasty food, just what I needed to sustain me for the day. Will be back again soon.

We were driving from KI back to Victoria. Most of the cafes were closed on our way as it was 31/12/23. Luckily the Vintage Cafe was open and the breakfast was delicious! Thanks, Team for the tasty food and the wonderful atmosphere 💖💖💖

Coffee's good. Pumpkin tart and ham and cheese croissants were delicious. Staff are friendly and easygoing.

Amazing food! Fresh and yummy! Much better than some of the Melbourne cafes! Very flavourful and not bland. We tried fish and chips / steak champagne pie/ penne pasta / pancakes! They were all Delish. We visited for next day lunch too. Friendly staff.

Went for breakfast great place and like most SA service very friendly and polite. Took 2 beautiful custard tarts with us it is tempting to go back to Penola just for them.
