We were definitely at the cellar at the most beautiful time of the year when all roses were blooming. We are big red drinkers and we enjoyed all of their reds. The Tally is just to die for! We highly recommend this place and we will come back again!

Doug Balnaves is an absolute gentleman and his grand daughter was a fantastic host during our wine tasting. Irrespective of where we went, all the other winery staff in the Coonawarra agreed that Balnaves is the benchmark. Highly recommend Balnaves Winery if you are planning a visit

We really enjoyed our time here. We didn’t think we really needed 45 min for wine tasting but we ended up spending an hour here and it didn’t even feel like it. As they say, time flies when you’re having fun. The staff was really friendly and explained the wines well. We also enjoyed watching the wildlife while sitting on the deck. Definitely recommend the wine tasting here for anyone who is in the area.

Visited here with family and some friends from Adelaide.
We have 2 kids 3 and under and my niece and nephew ages 5 and 8. If you choose to stay for a while there is a dedicated basket of outside toys for them to play with and lots of beautiful grassed areas to play on.
There is also a toy box inside for younger kids to.
Family friendly, tick.
Inside is a generous area to stand and a large long bar to accommodate a busy tasting session. Lots of local reading material and a nice selection of local nibbles, glasses and other things to purchase.
A beautiful little deck overlooking the dam is attached.
Cheese platters were well presented with quality ingredients and a lovely way to pass a couple hours sitting outside.
Service from staff was top notch, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
As for the wine, I don't drink the stuff, but everyone I went with enjoyed a few glasses with the platter whilst there and I think in total or group went away with a couple dozen bottles at least.
Overall, well worth a stop or taking a group and spending a couple hours relaxing on the lawn of in the assignment rose gardens.

My family had flown in from India and were curious about the South Australian Wines . So we did a two week trip exploring all the major wine regions and visited numerous wineries in that time. Balnaves of Coonawarra was definitely one of our most memorable of them all . The staff at the cellar door were excellent and gave us a lot of insight about regions and their quality Wines. We throughly enjoyed the 2018 'The Tally'.

Really nice wines especially The "breakfast" bubbly shiraz, staff were very friendly and informative, well done 👍
Just on a final note, if you are traveling with your four legged friend and they suggest you go to Little rippa brewery in Mt gambier, DON'T GO! That place is about as dog friendly (and people friendly) as a public hospital during the pandemic!! Don't waste your time, they really should stop advertising it .

What great hosts, great wine and a beautiful environment. Can you ask for much more if think not. Prices at $5 for 5/6 wines you cannot go wrong!

Awesome little winery. Dog friendly, so we could sit outside on the deck overlooking the pond sipping some tasty wines with our dog. Nice little selection on the wine tasting. Would recommend and come back here.

Beautiful family owned winery. They very clearly are passionate about their craft and are very knowledgeable about their wines! So sad we missed out on the cheese board though! Added plus is that all proceeds go to MND foundation.

Great hospitality with wonderful wines and tasting plates, all made for a great afternoon. Make this a must do stop in the limestone Coast and you will not be disappointed. Child friendly as well.

Best service from the amazing Heidi, walked my partner and I through a very educational though fun tasting of about 9 different wines and was more than happy for us to spend a lot of time finely picking out our favourites to purchase and take back to Adelaide. Served us with a very generous cheese and fruit platter that my partner couldn't get enough of.
The wine, the food, the space, the service was amazing and couldn't fault it. We'll definitely be back.

Lovely setting and excellent wines. This winery is a must visit for anyone not sure which winery to visit in Coonawarra. Their “Tally Cab Sav” is excellent. My husband and I made our first visit to the winery in April 2021. We joined their wine club and look forward to receiving their wines each year. Thank you Balnaves.
