Beautiful setting, only 2hrs drive from Sydney. Great caravan/pop-up camper ground with clean facilities and toilet paper.

Fire pits were good quality concrete surround, don’t forget to bring your fire wood.

You can get a trailer on the Hawksbury ferry and the river isn’t far away. Make sure to stop at the Hawksbury lookout just before you head down into the valley to get the ferry.

Beautiful, well maintained campsite within Dharug National Park. Camping spots are numbered and must be booked prior for $12 a person per night.

We had absolutely zero phone reception throughout the whole campsite (on the Optus network), so be prepared beforehand :)

Composting toilets were clean with lots of toilet paper - the toilet stalls themselves were fine but they stunk a bit nearby, so I’d recommend picking a spot further away from the loos.

Good concrete fire pits around the site (bring your own wood) as well as a couple high quality free gas barbecues. Lots of mozzies so bring repellent.

Beautiful camp ground with walking tracks for hours right from your camp spots. Fire pits are there so bring some wood! Little to no phone reception

No drinking water available! Bring your own!

Nice camping ground that allows camp fire. Have fire pits available or bring your own.

Toilets are a bit smelly, maybe because it was a little busy during a school holiday weekend.

A couple of walking trails and bike trails around.

Great campground with well stocked toilet paper. It has a walking track closed by which is doable for children 3+. There are possum, lace monitor and brush turkey around so it's kind of fun to watch.

Pick a flat, grassy site by the creek and set yourself up amid the rugged sandstone escarpments and dense eucalypt forests. This pretty, sheltered area is loved by birds and wildlife too – you might see wombats, wallaroos, goannas, lyrebirds and tiny sugar gliders and hear the distinctive chiming sound of bellbirds.

Take a short walk to the picnic area where you'll find the start of a number of great bushwalks – experience rainforest and dry eucalypt forest, climb up onto the escarpment or ride along the Old Great North Road, part of the Convict Sites of Australia World Heritage Area.

Awesome campground. Visited to break out of covid lockdown, lots of hiking trails and wildlife. Lots of work put in to replant after the last fires. Close enough to Newcastle. Bring firewood and drinking water.

A quiet campground tucked away into the forest just off the Hawkesbury River. The campground has basic facilities such as non-flush toilets, bins for rubbish and recycling, electric bbq's and tanked rainwater. It is recommended you bring your own drinking water. There is plenty of parking. Each tent site has enough space for three large tents, and they are situated a good distance from other tent sites so that you are not bothered by the noise from your camping neighbours. Some of the tent sites have dedicated fire pits to use for campfires. Definitely recommend this campground in late autumn, early winter.

Word of caution, be wary of the pesky bush turkeys on the lookout for an easy cheeky snack of your camp food. They are bold and will snatch anything that is within reach and isn't being looked after.

Pros: Within 2hrs of Sydney; Super quiet midweek; Great “work from home” location if you have a cellular booster & an inverter.
Cons: Toilets are super smelly….
Things to note: Limited drive-in campsites; BYO water & firewood.

Great location, away from everything and has everything campers need. Hop, skip and a jump to Wisemans which has a great pub and great locals.

This campground is gorgeous - in winter it was perfect. It's down in a valley so protected from wind, has great facilities (toilets, coin-operated BBQ's and fire pits) and campsites were perfect. The 11km walking track was magnificent, would definitely recommend it to those able to hike steep and long tracks. Will come back for sure!

Great place to camp.
Good hiking.
1.8 and 11km trails.
No water available so make sure you bring plenty for your stay.
Close to the river for water activity.
Lots of space for camping.
There's small spaces for individual camping .
There's also group camping 400m away from that main camp for large groups of up to 70 campers so you can get together with a large group of friends and not annoy other campers.

Trust me it's good enough for a chill night besides younger people partying ruined it and had to leave a day early. I'm young myself but I love the peace and quiet. But if they weren't there it would be perfect. No showers tho but take in the nature like a man with a beard and a vb in his hands

Great camp ground good amenities close to CBD but far enough to enjoy the quietness and lack of mobile networks
