Cafe Umami

After recently changing to gluten free we tried Cafe Umami and really enjoyed everything about them. The service was great, the atmosphere relaxing and the food was terrific.
Being able to relax and enjoy the food without the constant thought of getting sick from it enabled us both to really enjoy the whole experience.
I was able to adapt the food to suit my dietary requirements without any drama or fuss.
We had one of the best breakfasts out.

It was lunchtime and I driving along the main street of Wynyard looking for a car park. Found one right out front of Cafe Umami. What a fluke this turned out to be, because I was actually intending to go to the French Bakery across the road. What a find. I'm so pleased to be able to share this with other foodies. Its full table service. I ordered smoothie called Brainfood, that consisted of charcoal powder, banana, almond butter, cinnamon, coconut oil and coconut milk. It was delivered to my table in a tall glass and the smoothie was grey. Definitely not pleasing to the eye, but my taste bud were having a party, it was delicious. I also ordered the slow cooked lamb shoulder with roast veggies, another winner, flavour packed and presentation was spot on. I looked at all the home made sweets in their display fridge and it was a struggle to choose. (First world problem of course). The home made baked cheesecake was suggested. I'm not a fan of cheesecake full stop. It looked amazing and I bit the bullet and tried the baked cheesecake...... yum yum yum. Every time I put my fork into it there was a little burst of fruity surprise and the biscuit base was crunchy and dark golden brown and one of the finest I have tasted. Great work guys thank you the experience.

We stopped by cafe umami to have brunch. Very friendly staff. Food is quite nice and good portion, there was slightly bitterness to their bread but it was quite good .

Coffee isn’t the best . Hopefully they will improve their coffee quality.

Will try again in future.

This Cafe is an absolute gem. We were visiting Wynyard and hoped to find a decent breakfast + coffee ... but this exceeded our expectations! We had a great breakfast (keto) matched by excellent coffees. So good, that we came back the next day. The staff were friendly and clearly cared about their customers as well as their food. Highly recommend 😊

Amazing gluten free cafe with tasty food. Great find on our travels. Love finding these gems for gluten free options. Great work by and congrats the owners for a unique dining experience. Wish we had this in Queensland and everywhere else we travel to. Also, dog friendly if you sit outside, so thumps up for puppy lovers. Cheers

Amazing store owners, delicious vegan slices for $6 each. They weren't signed as vegan, just ask for it 😊

Everything is 100% gluten free which makes eating here a coeliacs dream! Friendly staff, lovely decor, delicious food, and a regularly updated display of local artists on the wall. Highly recommend a visit to Umami if you're on the North West coast 😊

The service at Umami is absolutely wonderful. They are kind and caring, asking questions about your travels. They even recognise you if you return.

Food at Umami is just a good as the service. I went with my grandparents yesterday for lunch and we all loved our meals. My grandmother and I had their burgers of which the buns were amazingly light and my grandfather had the salmon bruschetta which he greatly enjoyed. Today we went for breakfast. My grandmother and I had the waffles and my grandfather had the umami big breakfast. Everything was beautiful.

I must admit that the coffee here was also very good. I am one who usually adds sugar to my coffee but there, my mocha is beautifully made. My grandparents are also very fussy coffee drinkers and they loved the coffee here.

Overall this is an amazing place to go for good coffee, service and gluten free food.

Stop in on way home from walking with my dog. Sat outside, and enjoyed talking to the people on the table next to me. Service was fantastic.

Great find. After reading other reviews I visited for breakfast. Absolutely delicious. I had the special -Poached eggs with bacon on fresh grilled tomatoes. Great coffee. Friendly staff & quick service. Thanks for setting me up for a great day.

Found this cafe tucked away in the town of Wynyard. A must go to for everyone. 100% Gluten free. Coffee has to be the best in the state in my opinion. Fun, friendly, quaint little gem. Highly recommend.

Fantastic little Cafe, we came here from Sth Australia and my wife heard about this place. Beautiful food , healthy options , I had the Wagu Beef burger and my wife had the Roast Veg salad with Cajun Chicken. The Coffee was the best we have had since being in Tasmania. Very pleasant and friendly staff 👍. Highly recommend.

Really good coffee. Delicious chocolate cake and warm friendly service. I’m just sorry I wasn’t needing lunch as the menu options looked amazing.
