Must cost a bunch to run this ferry service which has been there since I was a lad 50yrs ago. But nice to have some quaint old world style transport. Something to talk about. No cost (cause it's a road) and staff are good.

It’s fantastic to experience a 3-minute river travel on a ferry with a car. Staffs are courteous. I strongly recommend to those who haven’t been here to cruise around for good!

One of only a few vehicle ferries that still operate in NSW. It is free (rare these days) and the staff are helpful. Two ferries were operating on this occasion, crossing each other mid-river. The road to Wisemans Ferry is motorcycling bliss.

Operating time: 24 hours, seven days a week.

The Wisemans Ferry crosses the Hawkesbury River just east of the junction of the Macdonald River at the village of Wisemans Ferry. It operates 24 hours, 7 days per week. During regular maintenance a second ferry operates so there is no closure time. Your journey can begin or end here taking you along the northern shores of the Hawkesbury River to Spencer and Mangrove Mountain. Bushwalkers keen on the trek up Devine's Hill and the Great North Road should cross the river at this point. This was the first ferry crossing on the Hawkesbury River started in 1827 by Solomon Wiseman whom this town is named after. Trip duration: four minutes (please allow up to 10 minutes waiting time).

The ferry is free and runs (nearly?) all day.

The ferry was improvised by a convict Wiseman by name to connect Sydney with the Central Coast by crossing Hawkesbury river. The Wiseman ferry is now a popular picnic point. You can enjoy a full day retreat with your family and kids. You can cross the Hawkesbury with your car by ferry and go beyond to farmlands of the Central Coast.
