Able Hawkesbury River Houseboats

Very friendly family run business. Great communication. We hired smallest houseboat.. it was so cute. I would not have more than two people on small houseboats. Boats were clean and had basic kitchen supplies, stove plus BBQ Need blankets and pillows and towels. Trip was great hardly anyone on river. Am doing it again as soon as I can.

It was the best idea to have our honeymoon on the hawkesbury. And the staff were friendly

We celebrated my husbands birthday with all our children and grandchildren on "Fascination" a five star spa houseboat. We all had a magical time cruising the Hawkesbury. The houseboat was so well equiped and had everything we needed for 12 people to be comfortable. The staff were friendly and efficient. The Spa was a huge hit especially with the grandchildren! Definitely recommend Able Houseboats

We had an amazing experience on the Relax 2 8 berth. The boat was modern, cosy yet enough room for everyone to have their own space.
Everyone was very helpful and Hilda especially was such a pleasure to deal with she was very patient with myself and 4 kids asking every question possible and gave us some helpful tips on the best way to enjoy the weekend on the boat.
We definitely will be returning very soon! Thank you again Simon and Hilda for an unforgettable weekend!

We arrived at Able Hawkesbury River Houseboats in Wisemans Ferry to be greeted by a tiny older Armenian lady (Hilda) who took us down to the houseboat (2-4 birth) we had booked for us to view. She then took us to the houseboat the next size up to view and explained that my husband (6 foot) could be more comfortable with a little more room.
I love a good sales pitch and I LOVED Hilda! Not just because she was upselling me but because she was right. After 4 days we really did need the room and the deck space.
Up to the office where Hilda asked what we were planning on doing (fishing) explained where things were on the river, told us where good fishing was, what we needed to know about times and tides, told me not to put anything but toilet paper down the toilet - no ping pong balls (?!?) and sent us on our way.
Down to the (larger) boat where a very knowledgeable young man explained to my husband about steering, safety, anchors, tidal flows, ferry edict then turned to me and said only toilet paper down the toilet no wipes or ping pong balls (?!?) then turned back to my husband to explain anchor lights...
Then he steered us out waved goodbye and away we went.
The photos say it all. Four incredible, glorious, breathtaking, remarkable, words cannot describe days of quiet, peaceful fishing.
The houseboat was clean and comfortable with gas stove, hob, kettle, plates, bowls, cutlery, barbque, pots, pans etc. The shower was more than adequate, the toilet did indeed flush paper (I did not try flushing anything else).
The couches fold out into a double beds and were comfortable.
BUT what was the best, the most fantastic, was the sitting on the front deck while we toodled along. I cannot thank Hilda enough for suggesting the 4-6 birth houseboat.
I spent every waking minute on that front deck.
I caught two dozen fish on that front deck. (Catch and release.)
I watched the dawn on that front deck.
I watched dusk on that front deck.
I saw swallows dance, fish jump, fog lift, Eucalyptus wave and sunlight kiss and shimmer on the water. Every bend of the Colo was another breathtaking view. At times it was like being in a movie.
The four days were over in the blink of an eye.
We returned to first wish Hilda a Happy Birthday (she turned 81) and my husband fixed Hilda's computer (funny huh) and explained that our ride back to Sydney had to return to New Zealand and we were stranded.
Never fear Hilda was on the phone in a heartbeat rustling up some transport (Davy) to drive us back, while making us a cuppa and checking we left nothing on the boat.
So here is what you need to know...
1. Pay a little extra and get a bigger boat - trust me you wont regret it.
2. You will NEVER meet a more lovely woman in your life than Hilda - she is the most genuine, sweet, caring, kind woman alive - hands down.
3. If you are thinking of hiring Able Hawkesbury River Houseboats but sitting on the fence, GET OFF THE FENCE - DO IT.
4. You're welcome - because you'll thank me.

Great weekend away on the "Iconic" House boat highly recommend it.

Hilda and the team made the experience easy and enjoyable.

We travelled down to Spencer's and went to a great little restaurant on the water called "The Anchor Spencer" which was fantastic. The owner (who is great) comes and picks you up from your houseboat in a tinny (and also takes you back after lunch)

Our group of 10 recently had a wonderful holiday on the Able 5 Star Spa Houseboat. The boat was very clean and well-maintained, and we had plenty of space. The kitchen was modern, well-supplied with appliances, cooking tools, etc. The beds were beautifully comfortable. The bathrooms and the spa were lovely too.
Our group has now had 6 houseboat holidays together in various places. We all agreed this was the very best. By the way, it was also the best value for the price.
The staff were welcoming and gave helpful advice.
We'll be back!

Spent a few days cruising the Hawkesbury River on these beautiful affordable houseboats, best holiday I’ve had in a long time going again this Xmas holidays

Rented a double kayak for a couple of hours to explore the Hawkesbury River and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff.

Brilliant - well run with no fuss. We rented the 6-berth boat which was excellent for three people and would also be good for four, but probably not many more than that. Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained, and the river was stunning and peaceful. We went mid-week and it was pretty much deserted. Would definitely recommend.

We had a great 4 days celebrating my Mum's 70th birthday on the Iconic, a wonderfully appointed and big houseboat. Would definitely recommend that boat to anyone wanting to get away with a group of friends or family

Our family took out Serenity for three nights last year and were sold. We booked Harmony (Ultimate 12 berth) for 10 nights in January for a ski week up river and had between 6 and 12 on board over the 10 nights. We did need to return to Able to fill and drain the tanks but with so many people and for so long this was to be expected.

Using the house boat as a ski base was fantastic as we were able to move to different parts of the river. The ski boat floats along behind and skiing from and back to the house boat is an absolute joy. As the boat driver I was able to step in and out of the boat with no mud, no getting wet swimming out to the mooring and this also made it much better for our no ski visitors.

We are no looking at booking the 5 Star Spa for next year which is slightly bigger and more luxurious. Hilda and the team at Able were very helpful as always and while it is expensive we had no surprises with bill shock at the end.

With many visitors over the 10 nights we have already generated additional business and will continue to recommend Able.

This review will include my overall experience for my weekend, not just the service provided by Able.

So I hired a 6 person houseboat for 6 adults. The boat was mostly clean with a new kitchen. Only comment we had on cleanliness was a couple of spider webs on the exterior.

The staff is friendly. Helped me with a short induction on how to drive the boat, manage the anchor and operate the dingy. It was my first time, and was pretty much straight forward.

The weather was perfect on our weekend, so we had a couple of swims and BBQs (all houseboats were equipped with gas BBQs).

What we could have done better as a group was to prepare better with fishing equipment, and plan the sites we would want to see; we eventually just sailed across the river with no real direction or target.

Overall it was a great experience. All 6 loved it. Was also a very good value for the cash we paid.

Had our second trip with Able house boats and the staff are very helpful and give you the full run down on how to operate boat before leaving. Everything worked and great advice from staff. Went up to the Colo river. It is life changing. The beauty of the river and having the river all to our selves at anchor was amazing. The bird life waking up to their songs with the river mist in the morning I will remember forever. Already can't wait to do it all again and this time for longer. You need I feel three days to get used to being without time and to get back to nature time. 5 stars from me great people great time great place

Very friendly staff, they were very helpful with renting a runabout for the day.

The runabout was large enough for 4 of us to fish comfortably, it was clean, spacious for an esky + gear, and the motor was easy to run.

Overall we paid $150 for a full day, it was definitely worth it just to cruise around and check out the scenery.

The lady that took our details at reception was lovely, and the gentlemen that helped us to return the boat was great.

After just hiring Serenity, one of Able Houseboats Ultimate Spa houseboats, I have to give them a 5 star rating the boat was very well presented and equipped and very easy to drive. All of the staff are extremely helpful and nothing is a problem for them. We had a week of just cruising water skiing and fishing. The worst part of the whole time was having to return the boat. I highly recommend doing a houseboat holiday withe Able Houseboats. 10 out of 10. We will be back. Cheers,Paul Studte

A bunch of us have hired the 5-star boat twice now and have had nothing but the best experiences. The rooms (with ensuites!) are modern and so comfortable. I slept like a baby. I LOVED all the mod-con's in the kitchen too. There was so much room on this boat that would easily fit at least 20-40 friends for a party downstairs and upstairs. The spa area on top of the boat is pure luxury with an outdoor kicthen on the same level too. It was so relaxing and with everything we needed within 2 steps. This boat really did deliver exactly what we had expected - a quality 5-star experience. I need to mention that the staff were lovely - they answered all our questions so quickly, and never failed to help us if we needed them for something. I would recommend this Able Hawkesbury River Houseboats without hesitation!!

I got to experience the 5 Star Spa boat, which came with 5 double ensuite bedrooms. The rooms were modern, clean, and generous in size. The kitchen was spacious and allowed for us to cook and prepare food without feeling cramped. The lounge and dining table was big enough for a party and the living area came with a plasma TV...although with gorgeous views all around, no-one needed the TV! The highlight for me was the large jacuzzi spa on the top deck, which left everyone feeling so relaxed. The Owner, Simon, was lovely and ensured we had a great time. Definitely recommend!

Excellent experience with the Able team - we had a week on the luxury 10 berth Fascination houseboat. Everything was perfect on the boat and so well maintained. Great kitchen and bathrooms and spa. The Hawkesbury is so beautiful and peaceful. Great for kayaking as took our own, not good for bushealks as cliffs are steep. We caught several bream, flathead fish. Were there last week of September and weather was warm with clear skies.

The staff was very cooperative. We missed our booking because of traffic delays but they still held on to our booking. It was Easter Holidays and people were lining up to enjoy boat ride. Thank you very much for making our holidays worthy.
