One Ton Post

So much to learn about our pioneering history and the surveying of this area

Really interesting bit of Aussie history right alongside the Barwon river was our first stop at Mungindi. The heritage listed "One Ton Post" is highly recommended as it answers those survey questions you've often wondered about!

Wow what a great piece of our history I'm so glad we stopped by for a look

Most know about Cameron’s corner however the One Ton Post is the other end of the NSW, QLD border laid by Cameron.
I have it on good authority the post got its name as the navvies installing the post were heard to complain “eh Guvna this post weighs a Ton!” (I made this up).

The One ton post is a sight to see, good girth and the blokes that put it there are mad lads. I took me wife’s boyfriends out to see it. 10/10

What a remarkable feat. This Survey post, erected by John Brewer Cameron, marks the end of the straight line starting at Cameron Corner and that forms part of the border between Queensland and New South Wales.

Great piece of history. Display info is very good. Interesting the use of a dynamo to work the speaking history. Road is ok gravel.

Great history. Definitely worth the detour for but watch the shack as it's full of white ants.

A great bit of Australian history

5 Km out of Town on a dirt road. Has a machine that you wind up and then it tells you different stories about the adventurer's.

Well worth a visit. A great piece of Australian History.
