Hamel Eco-Park

Weird as, semi abandoned but beautiful and quiet. Love it and enjoyed the trees. Long pants and shoes preferably as it's a bit overgrown

A surprise indeed. Seeking - and failing to find - the Hamel Wetland Walk, we found this instead, and what a treasure!! It's just 1km off the South Western Highway, 3km south of Waroona. It's the site of a former nursery, beside a brook, where tree species were brought from around the world... including cork oak and cypress. An amazing place that felt exactly like a rainforest... cool, shady, damp and so pretty.

Always a great visit

I go here to play Pokemon go and sometimes sit there and just listen to nature. There's historical plaques and small walking trails I am yet to adventure

It is very sad to see this place go from Kings Parks nursery to an overgrown fire hazard.
The heritage trees will not survive a bush fire... the fuel load is 90%... if a fire goes through here it will be lost forever.
It dodged a bullet in 2016... by luck not by good management.
It is high time some funding was made available by big local businesses and the government to preserve this eco park for future generations...
Also the body responsible needs to lift its game and get it cleared of bamboo and other noxious weeds.
And red the fuel load EVERY year. Even the Shire of Waroona has not enforced fire breaks.
