Johnsonville Black Stump General Store

The Black Stump General Store, has the conveniences you need, could be more stock for locals needing it, but the staff each time are very good, and the food is always very good and cooked well, hot and prices reasonable considering it's a general store to serve local residents, tradies and tourists and others passing by. The store is clean which is important.

Sensational toasted sandwich and coffee for a late breakfast. Worth a visit

Always freshly prepared sandwiches and bread rolls, pies and other food. Great place to stop for lunch.

Excellent. I had a steak pie and a chicken curry pie, both of which were great. I love pies and these were up there with the best I've had. I have to say the chicken curry pie was extremely mild; it felt like is was only the colour of the filling that attested to it's curried nature.

The staff are friendly, there's a pleasant area out the back ti sit in and eat (not strictly speaking a restaurant as they don't really take orders or anything from that area), and even the flat white I had was pretty good.

Highly recommended if you like pies but it looks like all the food there is great. Cheese and bacon potato cakes, anyone?

The staff here are always so lovely and helpful, making every effort to make you feel right at home. Very decent takeaway with great service and a gorgeous sitting area out the back. Not bad coffee either!

Super friendly owner. They have a nice chilling area next to shop with coffee table,, regular table, TV and a bar plus aircon. Super nice at hot day. Burger with a lot was massive and really good. And 8.50. Should have come here for dinner before.

Hi, I am ian, I attended the church next to the black stump on there yearly anniversary, I would bring my mother phyllis and her brother Denis, both deceased now. The black stump supplied the refreshments for the churches anniversary each year. I would like to shout out a big thankyou to all that helped provide. I would also like to share a couple of photos that I have posted of a mantle clock that was bought from a johnsonville store back in the year 1870,bought for 30/- bought by Edward foley. The clock is still working and sits at my entrance hall here at home. Thankyou all so much. Ian foley.

Very nice home made pies

The BEST pies. I've lived in Australia for 10 years since moving from NZ, and I've finally found a meat pie that matches those back in NZ. For those Kiwis out there - you'll know this is high praise indeed :)

Good place to visit, friendly staff nice food..The only is with things like bacon and egg rolls etc, is they can be almost cold when you buy. But always taste good.👍👍

Great little pit stop for those days on the run. Everyday they have different specials and baked goods. Friendly staff, outdoor and indoor seating.
Postal services are available as well as a small range of grocery items and alcoholic drinks.

Love going out to the Black Stump for coffee and snack or sometimes for lunch.
No trouble parking, very happy and accommodating staff and of course yum coffee and fresh food, at reasonable prices.
Ideal location to meet Bairnsdale and Metung friends.

Lovely general store with an attached side dining area. Meat pies are superb, great spot to stop between Lake's Entrance and Bairnsdale.

Beautiful friendly staff, clean and really good fresh food, might I add the best Hamburgers with the lot anywhere on the East Gippsland area. Customers for life ...also open a fb account so we can add you and spread the word xo

This place is just up the road from me, and i have feasted on one of there hamberger's many time's, great food, great is not the right word, spectacular, or maybe heavenly for the food, the have tables inside and outside so it's a good spot for a rest, stretch your leg's, refuel your body, and refuel your car at the B P servo over the road
