My friends and I walked the short circuit here (~5km). I would say it’s an intermediate-level hike. It was a good challenge for us occasional hikers. Took us 2 hours to complete with a good amount of huffin’ n’ puffin’.
Lots of pretty views, including mountains, trees and rivers! Lots of beautiful insects too, like butterflies, pill bugs and gigantic ants! I was particularly surprised about the great phone reception up in the mountains!
We truly had such a wonderful time :-)

Nice easy hike with a section of about 50m with a cable to climb past the rocks. Highly recommend. 10km not difficult. Saw a few red kangaroos. Nice nature walk, disappointing that people leave their rubbish….. take it with you its not that hard! Some toilets there.

Decided to give this place a try after hearing about it from a colleague.
Sufficient parking, sufficient signage.
We did the 10km trail that day. Took us 2 hours 20 min, with brief stops to take a break after the inclines and photos.
There are two sections that were midly challenging, where you need to scale the side of rocks. Cables are installed in places where absolutely required. If you're reasonably fit you shouldn't have a problem.
Gorgeous views, peaceful hike throughout.

As a beginner, I would say it wasn't that difficult trail. However, it was sure quite challenging for some people, especially with the additional 'rock climbing'. Nice scenery. Recommended to take the long circuit for more adventurous!

Absolutely wow! It was so beautiful, even saw a wallaby. As a beginner, the trail wasnt too difficult. I loved all of the spots (needle beach, western lookout, the old farm, etc). 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Fantastic, not just a bush walk but the chance to do more “hike” like activities by climbing over rocks etc.
would recommend.

Challenging circuit walk for the inexperienced hiker but it's doable, and invigorating when achieved.
Beautiful, picturesque bushland. We saw Bunjil the eagle gliding through the warm air currents. Also saw a red lorikeet, a wallaby, a platypus ducking under the water, and a small lizard.
Long drop for toilet at the start of quarry picnic ground.

Visited Werribee Gorge state park recently and the walking tracks surprised me. We went for the short circuit walk and a part of the long circuit walk. The views are breaking and so are locations. Make sure you have trail shoes with you as the tracks are very steep or slant with smooth to gravel tracks.

This is a beautiful place with a long circuit walk that would take anywhere from 3-5 hours depending how fast you’d like to finish. Average speed with frequent rest will take around 3.5 hrs.
Accessible by any vehicle type.
Close to town if you need supplies.
Toilet available.
No drinking water.
Space available for camping.
No fire allowed.
You need to take enough supplies of drinking water and snacks if you’re doing the long walk.
It’s is a challenging track especially if water level is high (around May to Sep) as some rock face climbing is needed.
I would say a 6-7 out of 10.

We did the Werribee Gorge Circuit route, with two children (10 and 8). Fantastic views and a bit of everything for us to see. Moderately difficult hike. Would definitely recommend.

Great place for a day hike. Gorge is really pretty and the island walk is great for spotting wildlife

Brilliant walk/trail. I suggest a certain level of fitness for the proper circuit walk however most people should be able to complete this walk. Bring plenty of hydration because it can be a 3.5 hour walk due to elevation etc, for the leisurely walkers. Can't speak for the short walk as we were too tired after the main circuit walk.
The rope climbing and minor rock face climbing was definitely fun! Can't recommend that enough!
Highly recommend! It's fun!

A great location to get away from it all and so close to Melbourne. Very steep aspects to the walks. Be prepared with water, snacks, hat etc

Beautiful swimming and walking spot. Swimming holes can be quite busy on a hot day but there are a few spots to choose from and several a short walk from the carpark. Some are shaded by trees. Good parking and there are drop toilets. The gorge has beautiful cliffs with red soil - always makes me feel like I'm in the Northern Territory!

This hike is an enchanting adventure that beckons the intrepid soul. As the sun casts its warm glow upon the rugged cliffs and meandering river, every step through the trail unveils a mesmerizing tapestry of lush greenery and towering rock formations. With each ascent, the air becomes crisp and invigorating, while the panoramic vistas reward the weary traveler with awe-inspiring views that stir the soul. The rhythmic symphony of birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves serenade the hiker, providing a harmonious soundtrack to the tranquil serenity that envelops this hidden gem. Werribee Gorge is a haven where time slows down, allowing one to reconnect with nature's magnificence and find solace in the untamed wilderness.

Tough trail, 10 kms. Prepare by warming up with a mild walk or a jog on previous days.

A great trekking experience here, 2 different circuit walks, we done the 10km one, you need to be reasonably fit, quite steep in places and very rocky, this walk will take around 4 hours with short rest stops. Take water, food, hat, insect repellent,
You must have good shoes too. Signage was a little confusing regarding directions.
We rate this trek 5 Stars.

The view is amazing 🤩, the river and the trees are stunning 😻. If you are lucky like me you will see kangaroos ❤. Bring very good shoes and a lot of water

Great rugged terrain and interesting hike. Love hugging the rocky gorge near the river. The views are fantastic. Parking is limited & drop dunnies aren’t the cleanest. I don’t recommend hiking the circuit if you struggle with downhills or in rainy weather because the inclines turn into mudslides. If you enjoy hiking, the circuit is a must.

This is a great place to have a challenging walk close to Melbourne. Each of the walking paths offer a variety of terrains, ranging from steep rocky to smooth bush landscapes.
