In January 2024, my Maltese had been swimming and when he shook himself after the swim he immediately lost the use of his back legs. I took him to the vet that day and was advised to give him medication and that he may get some movement back, otherwise lots of dogs adapt to dragging their legs after losing the ability to move them. The other option was $10,000 in costs for an x-ray and spinal surgery.
I got home and googled physiotherapy for dogs and found Steve online. I rang to book an appointment and supplied a video of Harry dragging his legs. At this stage he also could not go to the toilet at all on his own.
I received a call from Steve and had a discussion about what happened and Harry's symptoms. I was provided advice for his care until Steve saw him.
Harry saw Steve and he was upfront about Harry's condition and the work ahead for rehabilitation including the time required for Harry and I to spend on his care and eventually his exercises. There was no guarantee he would improve but there was enough indicators that he may improve.
Harry and I did everything we were given to do while seeing Steve for Harry's physio treatments.
It is now May 2024 and we just had a 6 week gap and will see Steve again in 6 weeks.
Harry is walking, running like a rocket, toilets independently, can now go up stairs (one of his last milestones) scratch his ear with his foot independently, lift his leg back to his original height to pee. He is amazing. I cannot state enough how much Harry has rehabilitated from the original diagnoses. My family are amazed and cannot believe how much Harry has improved.
I absolutely recommend Steve and his team for diagnoses and rehabilitation, direction and knowledge.
Harry and I are very thankful to be given hope and a life back to normal. The photos are from 2 weeks ago. Harry running on the beach. Harry is 12 years old.

Pearl (12 years) was having mobility problems, and struggling to stand up, which was heartbreaking for our family. On contacting Balance Veterinary they not only expedited our appointment but also provided care that enabled Pearl to be more mobile and happier than she has been in a long time. She is once again doing the things she loves like swimming in the pool and running on the beach. Thankyou to Steve and staff for your care

Dr Steve and Jess were awesome in their delivery of care for Charlotte, my black labrador 12.5 yrs. Charlotte has a rear leg cruciate injury, who was able to avoid surgery, gained good movement with the aid of massage, supplements, tens and vibration treatment. Thank you Dr Steve and Jess. I would recommend Balance vet.

Sapphire suffered an FCE in October 2023 and she effectively lost the use of her back legs and control of her bladder and bowel. It is now nearly March and she is our happy dog again. There is still some spasticity in one of her back legs but, thanks to Steve and Megan, she is back to normal again. The treatment for Sapphire was specific exercises, acupuncture and shock wave therapy.

We discovered Steve from Balance Vets by chance, and very happy we did. We took our then 13 year 1 month old pug who has a bad back issue, our initial consultation was amazing Steve went through all the things that were wrong with our boy, he asked questions that other vets never had, even other issues that we had been talking to our regular vet about Steve was helpful in offering suggestions, which were a great help to our little boys quality of life.
A few months on and we now have our little guy getting hydrotherapy, and he’s walking a lot better.
A regime of new exercises, and at home therapy guided by Steve has made a world of difference. If you are looking for someone who cares and has the answers then I can thoroughly suggest Steve from Balance Vets.

My Labradoodle puppy was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia at the age of 9 months and I was recommended Steve as a more holistic approach in treating such diagnosis’s as Stanleys, and keeping him as pain free as possible without having to go down the major surgery path.
Steve has always been honest, approachable and shown such care and compassion in treating Stanley. He has used manual manipulation, acupuncture and shock wave therapy, keeping Stanley pain free and happy, and me, a whole lot more positive and supported.
Thank you Steve for all your help and advice with conservatively managing Stanley’s condition. Lisa and Stanley.

Dr Steve has worked absolute magic with my two bulldogs & I will forever be grateful! We presented with a whole litany of ailments from debilitating cysts, severe joint disease, allergies, dry eye, hip dysplasia the list goes on. My boy Opi had suffered so much he had been put on a regular dose of steroid just to make the remainder of his life comfortable & it was heartbreaking watching the side effects then take over. After confiding in a friend she recommended Dr Steve & can I say only a couple of months in my boys are in the best health & more importantly happier than they’ve been in the past couple of years! Using a combination of laser, acupuncture, stretching & massage plus much kinder medication Dr Steve has literally given my boys a new life & I could never thank him enough. I highly recommend him & his nurses! When all traditional veterinary methods had been completely exhausted Dr Steve found a way. He truly is an incredible & kind vet with a genuine love & care for animals & we are forever grateful to have found him.

Finding Dr Steve has been an absolute blessing! Our Charlie boy sustained an injury at Easter resulting in lameness in his front right leg. He could not walk without falling over and had to be carried outside to toilet. I have been making the drive from the Redlands to Tambourine for Dr Steve to treat Charlie and the results have been amazing. The combination of shock wave therapy, laser therapy, dry needling, etc has given Charlie back functionality in his leg. He can now enjoy walks again and run down the hallway to greet us when we return home from work and school. Massive thanks to Dr Steve and his team!

When we first found Dr Steve my dog Bonnie was not able to run, walk or jump without pain and a limp and I would often come home to find her shaking with pain from getting up to greet me at the door, our lives changed as we adjusted to the injury and I worried she would never be able to enjoy chasing the ball or go on long walks again. Our regular vet had diagnosed a cruciate ligament injury but required expensive X-rays to diagnose and surgery was not something I was prepared for (financially and for Bonnie’s benefit). I stumbled across an ad for Balance Vet Rehab as I was researching the best methods to treat and manage Bonnie’s injury. As I read through the page I loved the holistic approach to treatment and felt hopeful after reading reviews. Despite Tamborine being an hour away, I sent an inquiry and had a complimentary phone consult with Dr Steve to see if we would be a good fit. I immediately knew that Bonnie would receive the best care and outcome if I invested my money in rehab over spending the money on X-rays.
From the very first visit I knew Dr Steve and his team really cared about their patients, and treated Bonnie with the utmost care, respect and consideration. Dr Steve is incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything he was doing and why. Bonnie was diagnosed with an iliopsoas muscle injury which was treated with massage, shock wave and laser therapy as well exercises to do at home to help rebuild strength and ease pain. Each exercise was shown at the clinic to ensure that both myself and Bonnie could successfully perform them at home.
I expected to spend a very long time working with Bonnie and Balance Vet to get her back to normal but after her 2nd visit she had made leaps and bounds in her recovery, she was in less pain and able to move more freely. Our first appointment was on the 19th of July and already by September Bonnie is 99% pain free, is now walking for 25 minutes with an exercise band, has rebuilt most of the muscle she lost and is back to being the happiest girl who can run and play again. When I first found Balance Vet I didn’t think Bonnie would be able to live and be as active as she once was, two months later and we are pretty much back to normal again. We will miss our frequent drives to Tamborine and seeing the wonderful team at Balance Vet but we owe our biggest thank you ever to Dr Steve and his team for helping my (furry) baby become herself again.
I was convinced to try this alternative route by reading the outcomes of other patients, and it was only in my wildest dreams that I’d imagine Bonnie and I would be adding to that list of testimonials. If you are on the fence about trying physio for your pet, I could not recommend Balance Vet highly enough.

Balance Veterinary Care was recommended to us by a neighbour and we were not disappointed. After Lochie was assessed we were offered a choice of care plans - there was no hard sell, mandatory blood tests or x-rays required. Lochie enjoyed each visit and has responded well to the alternate care for his Cruciate Rupture. We will continue with his physio and combination of natural therapies knowing that if needed Steve is only a phone call away.

We found Balance Vet Care by chance over Google when we first got our three legged rescue dog, Princess. We knew she would need some extra care and were looking for a dog physio. Steve and his team have been amazing. They are so supportive and knowledgeable. With some simple daily exercises to help build muscle Princess has improved considerably and is now able to go for walks for up to 40 mins (prior she was only able to manage about 20 mins). I would highly recommend Balance Veterinary Care.

Our Saint Bernard Penny was diagnosed with dual elbow displacia at 6months old. Outlook was not good and surgery helped minimally. We were recommended Balance Vet services through our training organisation urban dog training. Steve was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Penny had developed pain reactivity which made things difficult, requiring the use of muzzles and spacing. Steve was well and truly up to the task and was able to treat Penny with an effective plan which kept everyone safe. Steves vibration and lazer treatment on Pennys elbows was by far the most effective we have encountered. After 6-8 sessions we saw improvement in her ability to walk and navigate terrain on her front legs. Steve can also help with medication when required. Fantastic experience and would highly recommend for anyone with dogs who suffer from arthritic or mobility issues.

Highly recommend Balance Veterinary Care! We were unable to get a proper diagnosis and answers to our questions from our regular vet. Steve was able to quickly diagnose our dog's problems and work with us on a rehabilitation and care plan. Every other vet, including emergency vets and our regular vet were happy to take our money all while being very hands-off and not able to provide the level of personalised care our dog needed. Steve is very hands-on and our dog has responded really well. We are very happy with the service provided and can highly recommend!

Steve has been great with my three working border collies, especially with my senior dog whom has unilateral hip dysplasia and arthritis. I would definitely recommend him to dog owners whom are looking for alternative treatments for their dogs.

My Dog Gus is a 8yr old British Bulldog. Gus has had 5 hip replacements, a broken leg & dislocated legs. Gus has been through the wars, and I was ready to put him down & say goodbye due to stiffness, pain, and a real lack of mobility in his back legs.
The last throw of the dice was to go conventional, but also a little unconventional. Steve from Balance Vet Rehab took time to be both a vet & physio for Gus all in one hit. Gus has gained a significant amount of mobility back, been prescribed the right meds and now has his full personality back. Gus was also diagnosed with Cushings disease by Steve which we discovered contributed to his recent mobility issues. Gus is on a changed diet consisting of some herbal foods and has shown dramatic improvements.

I am in debt to Steve and the work he's put into Gus. Can not recommend his services enough.

What wonderful, caring people. Fiona & Steve were so helpful & reassuring. I would not hesitate in bringing my 8 year old staffy to them for their care in the future. Thank you both for all of your help.

Steve is amazing! He really goes the extra mile to help your special pet. Nothing is ever a hassle. We particularly like his ability to look and think laterally, covering alternative ways to help. Our old labrador has really benefited from his care, making her so much more comfortable in her ageing years. Also the cat loves him and our new pup is in good hands!

Steve came to our house for our dog that had a big lump. He removed the lump without the need of knocking him out like the clinic said needed to happen. After about 20 minutes and 1/10 the cost quoted by clinic he was done and the dog was happy as Larry.
He also came to euthanise our old doggie when the time came at our house and was very understanding and patient with everyone getting to say their goodbyes. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
