We thought sandboarding was fun.. But Camel ride was awesome.. Joe was an excellent guide and ran us through the sand and its history. Also the diversity of culture, camel habitats- The sweetest. Sandra, Shannon and third guy - All camels (names) were super calm and gentle. They deserve a pat and so are the super friendly staffs. Loved the experience.

Fantastic experience, staff were fantastic and funny. Camels were great, happy to have photos taken with them, and pat them as well. The ride itself was fun and suprisily comfortable, the walk you around the dunes and along the waters edge. Great weather for it as well. Money well spent and memories made for the kids. Would happily do this again. Thank you

Great experience if you haven't been on a camel 🐫 before. Lovely spot for it in the sand dunes and through the beach. The staff are very informative about the camels and the area. The beach goes all the way to Newcastle 32km.

The queue was the only let down. 1hr wait in the hot sun. Maybe be early to avoid this if possible. My wife and kids loved it too. Even 2-3 yr olds ride.

Great experience. No online booking for day time riding. Just walk in. It’s crowded during the holiday season. If you would like to do sunset riding they run only on Friday and Saturday. You need to do online booking through their website.

There is always a queue to get in and it takes a while. Not sure how long as I forgot to look. Over an hour, my daughter and wife said that they thoroughly enjoyed it. They also needed only 2 people so they managed to jump the queue, saving at least 20 minutes

Embarking on my very first camel ride, I was about to undertake a journey that would be etched in my memory forever. The camel's name was Tom, a name that resonated with a certain charm, a name that would soon become synonymous with the enchantment of the experience. As I approached Tom, I couldn't help but notice the warmth in his eyes, a glimmer of curiosity and friendliness that seemed to bridge the gap between our worlds.

Tom, with his dignified presence and swaying gait, was the epitome of grace. He was adorned with rich, earthy tones that blended seamlessly with the golden hues of the desert landscape, as if nature itself had painted this magnificent creature to complement its surroundings. His fur was soft to the touch, and I couldn't resist running my fingers through it, forging an instant connection between us.

As I mounted Tom's back, the bond between us deepened. The height and vantage point Tom provided allowed me to witness the vast, undulating dunes of the desert as they stretched endlessly before me. Each step he took was a rhythmic dance with the sand, a gentle sway that lulled me into a state of tranquility. It was a sensation of harmonizing with the world, as if we were sharing a secret language only we could understand.

What struck me most was Tom's affable nature. Despite being a stranger to him, he exuded a sense of companionship that was both heartwarming and profound. As I ventured into the desert, I realized that the camaraderie extended beyond Tom, as there was no one behind me on this journey. The camel behind us, nameless but equally expressive, seemed to take a special liking to our solitude. With each step, he seemed to offer his own silent approval of our connection, acknowledging that this was a unique experience meant to be cherished.

The way Tom and his companion carried me through the desert was not merely a ride; it was a shared adventure, a bond between a traveler and two extraordinary animals. It was as if we had become explorers of the sands, discovering the desert's mysteries together.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an otherworldly glow across the dunes, I couldn't help but marvel at the serendipity of this encounter. The tranquility of the desert, the majesty of the camels, and the unique connection I had formed with Tom and his nameless companion painted a mesmerizing portrait of nature's wonders and the magic of first experiences.

This camel ride with Tom was not just a journey through the desert; it was a journey into my own heart, a reminder of the beauty of the natural world and the friendships that can bloom in the most unexpected of places. It was a moment of enchantment and a testament to the fact that, in the company of creatures like Tom and his nameless friend, one can truly discover the beauty of solitude and the depth of connection with the world around us.

What an awesome day we had here. Our 5 year old lived every minute of it. The camel rides were great, and it's something you have to experience yourself. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. In July 2023, it was adults $40 and kids $30. So it's not that bad price wise.
Unfortunately, the day we were here, it was very windy, and sand got into everything we wore. The line looked reasonable, but in the end, it took 1.5 hrs in line. Luckily, it wasn't a hot day there.
Bring water and snacks but not too many as there are no toilets here.
In the end, everyone forgot the wait and really enjoyed the rides.

It's a unique way to explore the costal sands landscape, and the guides make sure you feel safe and comfortable throughout the ride. Whether it's a sunrise or sunset trek, the views are breathtaking, and the opportunity to interact with these majestic animals is a bonus.

Camel rides offer a memorable adventure that's both serene and culturally enriching, making it a highlight of any desert journey. Refreshing moments.

Embarking on a camel ride proved to be a worthwhile experience, justifying the hours spent under the scorching sun. The amiable and accommodating staff added to the overall enjoyment of the adventure.

This was an amazing experience on many levels.

**Experience**

The landscape is beautiful; you feel like you could be anywhere in the world, with the dunes reminding me of a camel ride in Morocco.

The guide was personable, invited questions, and shared interesting insights.

She also took numerous photos of each participant using their devices so they had a memento. My friend, who didn't participate, took pictures at a safe distance from the beach, documenting the stunning landscape and ride.

**Team Members**

Bronte, Teagan, and a gentleman (apologies, I didn't get your name) are friendly, knowledgeable, safety conscious, and focused on the customer experience from check-in, through to safety briefing, and ride.

They invited interactions with the camels; photos, and petting but were mindful to educate participants prior, ensuring the well-being of both camels and people.

**Value**

The above culminates into exceptional value for an awesome, unique experience offered in only a few destinations worldwide.

Thank you to Oakfield Ranch Camel Rides and the Team!

Fabulous experience, the camels are really well behaved and the handlers made the whole thing very enjoyable. Great that they’re happy to take photos with each person’s own camera. Great value for money, highly recommended 👍

This is a must do activity if you’re ever in the Nelson Bay/Shoal Bay area. We researched this upfront and so glad it was warm and sunny the day we went! The scenery and atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in Egypt or Dubai - the skies were a perfect blue, the ocean right next to you and sand was very clean. The guides allow younger toddlers to sit snuggly with the parents if they’re too scared to sit alone in front. The ride itself is nice and slow so kids don’t get frightened and you even ride next to the beach water! Definitely worth the cost.

The most incredible experience of a lifetime! If you’re visiting the area, put this experience at the top of your list. The amazingly trained camels were so gentle and cuddly, and the staff were lovely to have a chat with and were very supportive. Thank you to all the friendly staff who made my birthday so special.

Havent personally done the ride, but 100% recomend the tour. Little walk on the beach/water and "look a like desert"
Book your trip though since there was many people.
Same area you are able to do dune surfing too!

What an amazing experience.
My daughter was very anxious about getting on and the gentleman spent the time to talk her though the process and gave her all his attention for a solid 10mins. He never tried to rush her into anything.
All the staff were so friendly and welcoming.
Such a fun and exciting experience for the whole family.
Highly recommended 👌

One of the best experience one can have in Australia! It isn’t very expensive either. 20 minutes camel ride is around $40 for an adult and $30 for kids. Must do activity to do if you’re in this area
