Rent That Rack - Kidman Park & Churchill Centre

I have sold items at ‘Rent that Rack’ on several occasions. I have always found the girls very friendly, helpful and responsive to my enquiries during my rental periods.
I have made quite a good profit selling my handbags so I have been extremely happy there. Shoes have sold well also. Clothes haven’t done quite as well however I believe this is due to the volume of clothes in store & my brands/styles weren’t overly competitive with other clothing items in the store. Overall I have been very happy with the service the provided and my profits.
My advice to making a profit in this store - try to have unique products in the store, present them well and pop in regularly to tidy and top up your rack to keep it looking amazing :)

I have been to Rent a rack multiple times, each time I've walked in I am optimistic and on every occasion find something to add to my wardrobe, whether it's a full outfit, accessories etc. Would highly recommend ! The staff are always helpful and willing to lend a hand to identify whether items suit or don't! Thanks to the Rent a rack crew ! I will be back.

Absolutely love the concept behind “Rent That Rack”! I’ve had multiple racks there over the last 2 years and make a huge profit every time! The owners are beautiful and caring people and I will definitely continue to book a rack there in the future.

Great idea, run by two gorgeous ladies. Very happy with the sales from my rack. The space is excellent and always kept very tidy. And, I manage to find something to buy almost every time I walk in the door.

A good selection, variety and reasonable pricing. Store is kept in order and clean.

While the ladies there were lovely, I wouldn't get your hopes up on making your money back. I spent more on safety pins than the $3 I received in my rental period. Most of my items were priced between $2- $15, size S/M 8/10

Other things to consider are the time typing up each item, printing it onto card and pinning it to the clothing.

Would love to have said this was worth it, but unfortunately not for me.
33 items, 1 week period, $65 hire.
$4.50 on safety pins, $1 on printing to card, about an hour to type up, pin and then hang your own clothes up 1 by 1 at the store.

I’ve come in a few times as a customer, and the store is quite nice. Most items are priced reasonably, some are questionable. I generally only walk out with one item each time I visit. I completely understand how and why the items are priced as they are, and I’ve educated myself on the Rent a Rack system, so I totally get that it’s not like the traditional op shops. No problem at all with that and I LOVE the concept! The one thing I’d really like to mention is the service. I am sure the staff are lovely people, but every time I’ve walked in with family or just myself, there’s no greeting, there’s no offer to help, they just look at you deadpan like you’re the worse smell that’s entered their store lol. Or they don’t even acknowledge you at all. It makes me feel insecure and sad. One staff member on one occasion had their arms crossed over their chest just watching me the whole time. I think it’s because I took a while to look around but there’s a fair bit to go through in the store and I wanted to make the most of my time as I live further away. They were also talking on their phone on a personal call and they seemed mad. Maybe they were the owner as I’ve only seen them that one time. Other times, the other staff just look absolutely miserable … like they hate being there. It’s depressing to be honest. There’s so much enthusiasm on social media from this store, encouraging all to come in or set up a rack, but in the store, the atmosphere and the energy is just flat and cold. Like I said I’m sure the staff are lovely, but if I can get an enthusiastic “welcome, come in it’s cold, ask me for help if you need!” and a huge smile from the 70 year old man volunteering next door at the Salvos but not so much as a “hi” from the staff at Rent a Rack, then I think that’s a sign that the service could be a bit more warmer and welcoming. I think I’ll be skipping your store on my future op shop runs from now on, sorry guys 😞

I wanted to give an honest review of my experience with Rent a Rack. It is a great idea and the staff were lovely. I rented a family rack for two weeks ($280) and topped up as I sold items. My sales added up to $288 which after I deducted the cost of the rack and the $8 for over 100 safety pins my Net profit was $0. This was despite having brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Witchery, Nike etc. Almost everything was priced between $10 - $20. Unfortunately, I also lost about 8 items of good brand stock that was either lost or stolen. It was a lot of work pricing, setting up and packing down for no financial gain for myself.

Was quiet, messy, and the pricing was all over the place. There were some good items but the pricing was too expensive. There were cheap brands like Anko sweats priced for $10. I think if you're going to be situated between 4 op shops, you should consider more competitive pricing.
