As a support worker I've taken the people I support out to the lookout on numerous occasions. About a 45 minute drive Toowoomba and 25 from highfields its a pleasant drive past carbalah, hampton and the start of Ravensbourne National Park. We always enjoy coming out here to the lookout and taking in the amazing scenery. Theres picnic tables, toilet facilities and a metal compass on site, highlighting nearby natural attractions in each direction. Highly recommend everyone to come out and visit!

What a magnificent country and range view! If you are a city slicker you will just love this place. Very calming and peaceful. Covered eating area. Has BBQ area. Toilets. Water - but you must boil it before use.. Very nice outing and add some friends and you got a good combination for a very nice relaxing day out.

Beautiful lookout and well maintained facility. The temperature can be lower than in the ground. The public toilet and table are clean. Family can enjoy a good afternoon. Love it.

Gus certainly knew what he was doing when he laid claim up here! Quoted from research - "Gus Beutel was granted a one hectare special lease in 1924 on which he felled trees to establish a picnic area and create a lookout that now bears his name. Today at the Cedar Block day-use area you can still see the levelled site where a community dance hall and tennis court once stood."
Amazing views of a stunning region. Truly a hidden gem!

Gus Beutel Lookout just off the Ravensbourne Rest stop with Beautiful views, nicely maintained with picnic tables, shelter, toilets & with nice grass to throw out the picnic blanket with other areas near by to explore, including walking tracks for the active fans.

When visiting the park on the main road for lunch(different place) I did not expect the view here to be any better.
Upon driving to this lookout I was stunned to find the best view on my day out.

The photos don't do this place justice. It has to be seen in person to take in all it has to offer.

Toilets and shaded picnic tables are available.

One of my all time favourite places to visit, the landscape views are amazing. I experienced perfect weather conditions on my visit. Plenty of open grass areas to lay out in the sun and enjoy the views and have a picnic. Note: BYO BBQ/gas cooker.
Recommend walking the Ravensbourne NP trails while you're out there.

Amazing views to the southwest make the drive from Brisbane well-worth it. The picnic area facilities are very well maintained. There is a short loop walk through the forest but it doesn't include anything especially noteworthy.

Lovely spot for a quick stop or for a few hours. Has wood fire bbq or bring your own gas BBQ if you want an easier option to cook. The short 15 min bushwalk is on sealed asphalt with gental undulating ground. Walk loop goes down hill the around and back up to the beginning. Although not mentioned anywhere, you can easily take the kids in a push chair. Could do wheel chair of you have someone to help push you up the hill.

Absolutely fantastic, great for a romantic dinner watching the sunset through to a family picnic with the children.
Lovely views to the East and West as far as the eye can see.
Lots of tables, non gas BBQs and extremely clean long drop toilets with soap and paper towels. No rubbish bins, take your litter with you and let's keep Australia beautiful ❤

Fresh air open parkland surrounded by rainforest on 3 sides and vast vista from the kookout to the east. Toilets, wood barbeques and walking trails. Not far from Toowoomba but within driving distance of Ipswich and even Brisbane for a bigger day trip
