Set on the banks of Morong Creek, Boyd River campground offers a peaceful setting in an open forest. Tall snow gums tower above and during early morning and late afternoon some of their inhabitants – sugar gliders, brush-tail possums and tawny frogmouths – can be seen. Wombats, wallabies and kangaroos sometimes join you in the campground. There’s also a recycled timber day hut on site to provide shelter, rain or shine.

Whether you want to go bushwalking, ride mountain bikes, have a keen interest in landscape photography, or are just eager for a getaway, this is the perfect destination. The start of both the lookout and waterfall walks are nearby, and Boyd River loop cycling trail starts in the carpark.

A great camping area when visiting Kanangra Walls. Many camping areas with excellent long drop toilet facilities and a wonderful open hut to accommodate bad weather. Remember to take firewood so you dont impact the area.

Great camp spot. We had a group and used the shelter as a meeting point for a meal. Birdlife amazing. Wallaby, kangas and wombat. Lots of walks and mountain bike tracks nearby and the most amazing view at lookout.

Perfect campground to base yourself in when you visit Kanangra NP. Remote somewhat rugged but with basic, clean amenities. Even made much better when you visit and camp under snow.

Great campsite for family and friends. Lots of sites with fire pits. 2 sets of male and female pit toilets at opposite ends of the site. Great scenery and relaxing spot in the bush. Use 4WD to get here, roads are not suitable for 2WD. Kanangra Boyd lookout and walks at the end of the road are great to check out

Perfect spot for weekend getaway from Sydney. I have been here 3 or 4 times and it was never crowded. No mobile reception at campsite but some on kanangra walls. Facilities are basic but well maintained, only few picnic tables available so bring your own if you need one.

Free campsite nestled away, with drop toilets (the coolness in September helped limit smell) , fire rings with hotplates and organised camp site locations made for a great campsite.
We stayed for 3 nights which made an excellent base to explore Kanangra Walls and other trails around.
Weather was very cold overnight (low single digits ) which caught us by surprise forcing a midnight rush to put on several more layers!

Our campsite neighbours retreated to sleep in their running car with heaters on.

Great spot can't recommend it enough. It's lightly wooded for a real bushland feel & has a top picnic shelter with fireplace for tent campers.

As its a national park, please note that domestic animals are forbidden. There are no bins, take your rubbish out. Pit toilets are provided, water is available. There is no mobile phone reception here.

There is free car camping here, in a pleasant wooded setting near the river. There's also a 3-sided hut with a large fireplace for winter nights, or even summer nights since the campground is in a bit of a frost hollow and can be cold at the best of times. The camping spots are level enough, next to your car or further away according to your preference, and fireplaces are scattered around. Toilets are provided. The campground is on both sides of the road, and can hold dozens of vehicles and tents. It makes a suitable overnight stop before starting a bushwalk from Kanangra Walls, a 10 to 15 minute drive away depending on the condition of the gravel road.

Amazing camping but come prepared as there is no water and it's accesible only by a dirt road of 20km. Close to the Kanangra walk parking, ideal place to stay for hikes in this national park. We saw a wombat and plenty of wallabies and kangaroos just next to our tent.
