Mount Napier State Park

What a gem of a discovery, we found this as we were driving from one town to another, the ancient lava tubes were awesome!

The hike up the top of Mt Napier is easy and enjoyable. Getting to the start can be a bit tricky as the track in is rough. I'd recommend driving in from the north. A car with good clearance is needed. The hike up gives you 360 views. Can see the south end of the Grampians to the north. There's a good amount of the crater still intact once you get up the top.

It is a lovely short walk with fabulous views right around the Western District.

Great hike, got a sweat on but it's only 30min max upward hike, so doable. Great views at the top and worth taking a picnic!

Sorry Julie but it ain't a short walk. It's about 1.5 km from carpark to summit. Allow 20-25mins each way (so about 1hr return). Steep and rocky in sections. Wear good footwear and it can be windy on top so take some warm clothing. It's definitely worth it for the view. I believe it has a stand or two of remnant snow gums. So worth seeing whilst they're still around. Nice plaque on top from 1910's honoring major Mitchell.

There are 4 caves / sink holes to view. The formation and colouring of the rock is interesting. If you are quite there will be some wallabies. Wear good shoes. Walking is easy but possibility of snakes.

Great place to visit and good exercise walking up to the top of Mount Napier and a beautiful view to top it off.

Undiscovered hideaway

Quite a rough road in, but we did with a Corolla, so you don't need a 4x4.
Easy to medium climb to the top (30_45min) with excellent view from the top of Mt Napier towards the coast and inland.

Fantastic view from the summit, the walking track is well defined, steep in sections as with most extinct volcanoes. Took us 40 min from car park which has limited spots. The vehicle track to the car park is very ordinary and has a few wash outs on its approximately 5 km journey, it is a single lane track so passing on coming vehicles might need some thought. We went in our Suby so ground clearance wasn't a issue but a sedan may struggle.
