Chargefox Charging Station

Pulled in for a 30 minute charge on my way back to Melbourne.
Arrived with 48%- departed with 100%. Rapid charging costs are so high now that there is no great incentive to go electric if you have to charge using public chargers. Rapid charging is as expensive as petrol and the cars are more expensive to purchase.
Charging at home regularly is the only way u can justify buying an electric vehicle.

One of the most popular sites in Victoria as people getting in and out of the state and charge their cars here!

I like this place particularly during the night as it has a service station and eatery nearby, which is often missing at other charging spots on the Hume Highway.

Fast and reliable. Excellent charger up time and the ground mounted solar adjacent is a great idea.

Great spot for a topup and break on the Melbourne-Sydney route. Would be better if it were more integrated with the services. Feels a bit isolated and disconnected and lacks a shady seating area on hot days.

Chargers working great during our visit. Would be better if there was a rubbish bin located in the charging area or at the tables.

They could have used the solar panel array that powers this to make a carport to park under. Otherwise it's a great spot for charging and highly unlikely to get iced since it's away from the main car park :-)

Dedicated charging spot but only two fast chargers (125kW) and two normal (50kW).

A picnic table undercover next to carpark but no bins or other amenities. You have to walk about 50m to the adjacent service BP centre for toilets.

Mobile coverage isn’t great here. For example, if you have a Tesla, you can’t stream video while charging.

Only one fast charger working at the moment.

If only there were more fast chargers here that actually all worked. This site has so much unrealised potential.

Needs improvement. I have charged here many times doing the Syd/Mel runs. When it works it’s great and I have seen 230kW charging rate multiple times. The last two visits the Telstra signal was so bad the Chargefox app would not work. It was 39deg and bright sun. No shade over the very low screen so they could not be read. I had to go into the bp food area to get wifi to start the charging. My RFID card was not being accepted, though it had worked before and since elsewhere.

Desperately need some sun and rain protection.

Also had commercial grass mowers operating within 1m of me and the machine while I was trying to connect. It wouldn’t happen next to a petrol bowser.

Only 1 ultra-fast charger working (3 other chargers broken). This dedicated EV charging station (unlikely to be ICED) has huge unrealised potential due to lack of maintenance. We had a 5 minute wait. There is a small roadhouse over the road. Would attract much more business if all 4 stations worked. A quick check on the chargefox app is advised before driving this far off the highway.

All four stations started to charge, then error-ed out. Painful experience.
