Trentham Falls, Coliban River

Lovely little place. Seemed pretty well-managed, so props to the rangers. Car park avaliable right nearby the falls, and the lookout is fairly easily accessible by stairs. There were toilets- were out last time i was here, but plenty of bushes around.
If you choose to climb down to the falls, be very, VERY careful, as it can get slippery and muddy even with 25° sunny weather. Even more careful climbing up, especially holding on to rocks or tree branches- they're not all stable. It wasn't a long climb but a little strenuous for me, at least (was quite sore the next day lol). Did get a lot of bruises and scratches, mostly from the damn blackberry bushes you'll find everywhere, so watch out for those (try not to eat!).
If you're thinking of swimming there, DON'T! I'd advice not to, the waters were freezing and not in a pleasant way, also really hurt to walk on the rocks that surrounded the pool all over, i did injure my foot :( if u don't mind cold waters and swimming in boots go for it, otherwise absolutely not worth it.
Overall, cool place to check out and maybe set up camp it was very relaxing.

The shortest walk and the most beautiful fall. Definitely worth the stop. The pictures and video don’t do it justice. Less than 90 steps to the bottom with a huge car park as well. 3 picnic tables around the car park if you need a break. No outdoor toilet available

One of the best waterfalls in Melbourne. The formation of the rocks and cliffs makes it tremendously amazing to spend time wandering around or taking photos and videos.

The path going down is a bit rough so be careful if you are advantageous to explore the best spots observing it.

There are a lot of parking slots in the area. Aside from the waterfall, it is also a nice leafy area for picnics or walks.

A short downhill walk on a dirt and gravel walking trail from the adjacent small bitumen carpark leads to views of Trentham Falls and it's narrow Gorge.
We visited on a beautiful sunny weekday and it's a lovely pleasant environment.
Beware if you have small children to keep a close eye as although the Gorge and Falls are fenced off it's quite easy to hop over or under and it's quite a drop over the sheer cliff face of the waterfall.
There are steps almost straight down to the viewing areas and a longer winding graded path for wheelchairs and prams.
I'm not sure if there is a walking path to the base of the Falls.
When we visited in late September 2023 the toilet block was closed and under reconstruction after a substantial tree fall had substantially demolished it.

Amazing waterfall. It's breathtaking. Especially when you don't have many people/tourists around. My only piece of advice would be to wear proper shoes as the rocks could be slippery.

Absolutely beautiful views and we walked down to the waterfall (Tracks have been closed off unfortunately but you can still go around and walk to the bottom. 5yr old had a ball with us as well

Magical view of the waterfall with extremely easy access. You can park less than 20 metres away. A nice place to sit and have lunch too.

Beautiful! Weather it be for a 'sightseeing' break Or a look at the Natural Hydrogeology and Environment, it is a lovely, easily accessible location to have a look at the natural surroundings. Just be careful of the steps! 👟 💦 🌳 👟

Very picturesque and beautiful waterfall but if you're after a walk to get there forget it. Only a very easy 5 minute stroll from the carpark and its there. But use the extra time walking around the town or one of the other small towns nearby and you won't be disappointed

Nice place to visit. Going down near the falls is prohibited but my friends had other plans.

Such a beautiful place to visit. This water fall is not far from from melbourne. The drive is almost 1 hour, and fall is only 100 meter from the car part. While walking towards fall careful, because the path is really dangerous and need some extra care while walking on it. The scenery is really beautiful and worth watching.
Must visit.

It's very good location. There is a restriction board to not go down near the water fall..
But few people are taking risk and going near the fall..it's a dangerous way to go down..

Location is a one hour and half journey from Melbourne CBD. Roads to reach the destination are too good. Summer might not be the right time to visit. There are no cafes or restaurants on the location.

You can get to the bottom of the falls and let the water fall on you directly. Mesmerising right. Oh yeah, absolutely no doubts about it. Also, you walk into the cave behind the fall so that you will get a view from the back of Waterfall. Trek to the bottom is easy to moderate level trek. Couldn't find toilet at the location.

Note : Trek to the bottom is restricted by Victoria parks and blocked the entry by barricade(Rules are meant to be broken 🤭). Please be mindful of it. Just 70m walk from park lot to lookout spot. A few spots of trek will have a steep and slippery path.

Beautiful area we visited on Sunday with my family and sisters family too. The water fall is beautiful, I just wish we could have gone down there and seen it up close. Love the nature and its wonders.

Easy access to the viewing platform makes it perfect for small children and if yr adventurous you can scale the hillside and enjoy the waterfall from the bottom.

It’s worth to drive one and half hours from Melbourne to see the waterfall located in Trentham.
I can say this is best waterfall you can find in the nearest drive from CBD.
From the Viewing point at the top, it’s average.
If you love to hike and to do some adventure surely you can go to the base of the waterfall by very steep and muddy hike.
I can suggest you to visit this waterfall in winter time as the flaws of water is much more compared to summer.
Also you can find limited options of good foods in Trentham after visiting waterfall.
Worth to go.
