Cobaw Sporting Clays

A big thank you to Jon and George from Cobaw Sporting for taking our team under their wing for our 2022 Christmas Cut Out. With safety as number one priority the team had a fantastic time practising their clay target shooting.
A great day had by all!

Due to lockdowns we have had to postpone our experience a number of times - it was definitely worth the wait!!

John explained everything thoroughly and ensured we all had a fantastic time. The cottage to warm up afterwards and be able to cater a lunch was an added bonus and ensured the we could all catch up on how well we all did afterwards.

Would definitely recommend!

What a day! Professionally and safely inducted into the world of target shooting, we were all treated a fantastic day of fun and merriment and a spectacular lunch menu. Highly recommend this for any anticipated group activity.

Cobaw hosted our group of 20 for clay target shooting to kick off a bucks day. We could not have asked for a better experience. The staff were friendly, well prepared and extremely helpful particularly since the majority of our group had not shot before. Our shoot went for at least 3 hours and everyone got a really good chance to practice and develop a level confidence by the end of the day.

Every time we go out to Cobaw we have a great day. New shooters are well catered for, the surroundings are beautiful and and the shooting enjoyable. Will be back

Our group enjoyed an amazing day with Jon and Cate. The shoot was well planned by Jon and he made everyone feel comfortable regardless of experience. The lunch provided by Cate was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. For a different experience to run of the mill activities, this is a must do.

We had a fantastic afternoon shooting clays at Cobaw. Jon was a fantastic host, made the afternoon a complete experience. Would highly recommend.

Would definitely recommend! As a large group of 24 novices, Jon and the Cobaw Shooting Team gave us an incredibly fun and safe experience in a stunning setting that catered to the needs of our group. Everyone was wanting to go back again

John was a brilliant instructor; clear, passionate and always had safety top of mind. The location is spectacular and we were lucky enough to have Cate serving us a beautiful meal.
We all had a great time and would love to come back one day.

The day was tailored towards both myself as a beginner and my partner who had more experience and we both left having learnt a great deal, and with smiles on our faces.

Overall, a unique experience that we will never forget and look forward to returning soon.

I've had the pleasure of visiting Cobaw on a number of occasions. It is always a fantastic time. Jon, Cate and the crew put on a tremendous day in a lovely part of the world. Great for both new and experienced shooters, or those who may simply wish to take in the surrounds with some quality food and drink.

Amazing!

Jon hosted a private shooting session for myself and my father. The day was incredible, from the clear upfront instruction, various shooting courses & even the debrief on shooting trips to castles in the UK. Highly recommended.

My first mistake was having not been to Cobaw previously. Jon and Cate run a very professional and welcoming afternoon of breaking clays. There are not many places you can shoot at nearly 300 clays (not necessarily hit) in three hours. The target quality/trajectory/distance caters for all classes of shooter and is great practice. Great bunch of people to shoot with and have a chat in between rounds. Snacks at the end of the day were delicious. We will be back.

I have enjoyed several terrific days at Cobaw - a couple of competitions and several of the monthly Wednesday shoots, as well as bringing my daughters for an introductory lesson. Jon and Cate a wonderful hosts and safety is always front and centre. They have the best range of traps I have seen in Australia, which will challenge the most proficient shots.

Cobaw is very accommodating for first time, beginners or experienced shooters alike. There is nothing else like this place that I know of…. and it has fondly become one of my happy places.

Attended the Sporting Clays recently with for a bucks event, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable and very well run activity. Jon was extremely professional and enthusiastic, and clearly enjoys what he does. Facilities and equipment were first class, and the field shoot simulation was novel and of high quality. Highly recommended for the bucks (or similar) group that wants something a bit different from paintball or go-karts.

Simulated Field or 'sporting' is on the rise, and the best in Australia is Cobaw Sporting. In the rugged granite hills behind Mt Macedon, the site is superb. Over 20 years Jon has built a super venue for beginners or experts alike - I just love returning there! Whether it's the Grouse Butts, the High Towers or the Rabbit, you'll have a ball. If you're lucky enough to sample Kate's cooking, you're in for a real treat!!

Today we experienced a fantastic time at Cobaw sporting clays for our annual Christmas party.
Jon was extremely hospitable and patient with us all being inexperienced shooters.
It well exceeded my expectations with all the different ways to experience shooting clays.
I would happily advise everyone try this as you won’t be disappointed.

I have been fortunate to enjoy well over a decade of simulated field sport and competition with many good friends at Cobaw. I really enjoy the setting; it is spectacular and sophisticated unlike anywhere else I am aware of in Australia. A day at Cobaw also usually includes fine food brought to the Field and in the middle of the day a really first class Country Manor style Lunch - quite superb.
