Discount Drug Stores - Esk

My husband and I have been going to this pharmacy for the past 13 years. It was wonderful to see how it grew over the years. Not once we had a bad experience. We always feel welcome and are greeted with heart-warming smiles. Even when we are not feeling the friendliest, the staff are very emphatic and have us smiling before we leave the store. Every time we go there, we feel as if we are the most important customers. I have a tendency to chip in, which is something I work on to be more mindful of, the staff keep their calm 😌 They take note of personal improvements and share our joy!
The pharmacist and their assistants always have time to explain medicines to us and never fail to review our prescription medicines with us from time to time to ensure that we get the best treatment possible.

I received a script for PBS subsidised nicotine lozenges from my GP in Brisbane, and as the PBS pack is specific in quantity, strength and brand (and is often confused for the nicotine gum pack), I called ahead to confirm they had it in stock, as this pharmacy was on my route home and I'd stopped there once or twice before to avoid having to go out of my way in Brisbane.

On the phone, a staff member confirmed they had the PBS lozenges in stock and she put a box aside for me. When I arrived and went to pay, I realised they had mistakenly given me nicotine gum not lozenges. They didn't have any of the PBS lozenges in supply, as hardly any chemists do.

I said that this gum vs lozenge issue had happened multiple times before at different pharmacies was fine and I said I'd just go to my normal pharmacy, but the staff apologised and got the manager. He insisted that, as I'd been told something wrong on the phone and had stopped on my drive, they would supply another brand for the same cost of the PBS script, write off the difference, and flatly refused my protestation that they didn't have to do that (as the 216 lozenges cost $6 rather than $50 on the PBS, and other brands are more expensive than Nicotinell).

So, instead of 216 really large Nicotinell lozenges, I left with 3 x 80 packets of Nicorette lozenges, so 24 more than in a PBS pack. Realising that the Nicorette 80 packs are about $50 each (so they would be losing $144 compared to their listed price) and that they didn't have to do this, I again said that I would just go elsewhere.

The manager was having none of that, insisted again, and said it was great that I had successfully stopped smoking and he didn't mind doing this at all.

Aside from this remarkable generosity, the staff I dealt with were really positive and happy, there were more staff in this small rural chemist than I've seen in many an inner city Chemist Warehouse, and I received probably the best service and generosity I can ever remember in a shop of any kind.

I will now try to organise to go to this Chemist for any and all scripts or chemist stops for when I travel from Nanango to Brisbane, and I urge anyone travelling through Esk to stop here and buy from this business, especially if you're someone who likes to stop for a coffee or a meal on a long distance drive, as Esk has everything you need on the main strip, and you can drop your script off and go grab a coffee or pie or use the restroom, stretch your legs and collect your script without having to wait... Though as other reviewers have noted, and as it was today, I didn't have to wait long even though there were 4 or 5 other customers present.

I don't leave lots of reviews, and I've definitely never left a review anywhere near this long (once or twice I've gotten overly verbose and scathing in exacting revenge-via-review on a business if their service/behaviour was seriously appalling), but I felt compelled to recognise this business going *way* beyond what is expected from "good customer service", and I again urge any and all to, like me, try and make this your go-to chemist (as practically as that can be, being 100km from where I live). They might not give you $150 worth of stuff for the cost of a PBS script, but you never know!

Wonderful happy helpful staff .. they are very attentive n help u out for all ur needs .. you don't have to wait very long for your prescription.. they are fast ..if you are new the pharmacist makes sure that you are aware of your medication and the side affects. They have good specials on toilet paper and laundry powder.. and they have a wonderful gift area to select from for all different occasions as well as specialty toys for children .. Gardner's are in for a treat as well with pretty workable gloves and other bits and pieces.. plenty of jewellery to choose from as well.. they are a lovey caring group of people who help you out amenstly
