Sensational homemade Beef & Bunya Nut Pie! This is a winner! A perfect short crust pastry, golden and flakey, then bite inside to the hot creamy chunky filling. Yumm!

The hard working staff were absolutely run off their feet 2 days in a row yet always so friendly and smiling.

Thank you for great catering in a remote location. 💕🙏

The home-made pies at this place were sooooo delicious! 🤩🤤 I had the lamb with salad and took the beef and bunya nut pie home (frozen). I love that they incorporated the bunya but in the meals to try. They had 3 types of soup which I was impressed with too.

I loved sitting outside in the sun on the little tables. The birds were flying around to visit, which was nice. I would recommend a little station point under the verandah outside where people can put thier scraps in the bin and leave thier plates in a container with a lid as the birds would scavenge all the leftovers from the plate. If the waitress asked me to do that, I would not mind at all as I know the birds should not be eating food outside what they normally eat or processed food 🙂 Plus, it grosses me out to think the birds might be pooping on the table or plates.

The cafe needs a bit of a spruce up to have a more warm, cosy and unique atmosphere. But other than that, I highly recommend, excellent service and would be my go to place if I ever came back 😊 And I would buy more pies to take home! 😍

Really loved the casual seating suited for groups small and large. The staff were very friendly in taking orders and delivered 8ppl worth of drinks and cakes without a glitch.
Prices are reasonable for location, flavour and serving size. Absolutely loved the bunya nut scones. Worth a try if you want a classic scone with a hint of nutty flavours!
Coffee was strong and brewed well, we will be back.

Had two lovely brunches here during our stay in the Bunya Mountains, both times we ordered the eggs Benny, both times were delicious! It was one of the best I've had. The coffee was very delicious, and it went down a treat whilst enjoying the views and local wildlife. Staff were warm and welcoming! Will gladly dine again when we return. 🌲☺

Yesterday 50 people arrived at “Poppies on the Hill” for lunch. I had organised this function in advance weeks before with Sue and Jenny. Whilst all the guests fed the Lorikeets, Galas, and Cockatoos a wonderful Smorgasbord was being laid out for us, and what a beautiful spread it was.
The table was laden with lovely platters of Ham off the Bone, Freshly cooked Chicken ( that morning) beautiful Salads and Coleslaw plus French Bread Sticks already buttered, there as plenty of food and the portions were most generous.
We then were presented with Homemade Stick date Pudding or Freshly made Caramel Tart ( to die for). One of our guests could only eat Gluten Free food, and her lunch as also beautifully presented to her, plus Gluten Free bread.
Everyone had a wonderful day, the weather picture perfect. I do not have any hesitation in recommending “ Poppies on the Hill”.
This has been my 4th visit in 18 months, we will continue to go back, it is part of the Scenic Rim that is a hidden gem.

Any trip to Bunya Mountains requires a stop at this cafe. Not only are their prices very reasonable, but their food and drink is divine. I got the bunya nut and beef burger on my most recent visit and was left both content and wanting another.

Later in the day we came back for their famous bunya nut ice cream, but we're slightly disappointed that their ice cream machine was broken and they only had pre-made ice cream (opposed to the freshly made type typically available).

We made friends with the wallabies who decided to munch on the seed intended for the birds, ending the day on a good note.

Overall this is one of my favorite cafes and I wholeheartedly suggest checking it out on your next visit.

We are not regular reviewers but received excellent service during our visit and wanted to acknowledge Carla, Louise and Loralie at
Poppies on the Hill - Bunya Mountains.
We enjoyed a delicious bunya nut pesto with eggs, a bunya nut caramel cheesecake with bunya nut icecream but were most impressed with how the staff treated us. Thank you!!!!

Great cafe surrounded by lush grass and bunya pines. Expect to see king parrots, rosellas and wallabies foraging nearby. Beware of the currawongs though, they'll steal your lunch!
The pies are delicious, as is the signature bunya nut sundae. Coffee was very good too.

A fantastic cafe on the perfect spot. Food was impressively delicious, lots of options made with bunya nuts, which makes it quite unique to try. Service was quick and friendly. Don't miss out if you visit the park, this is the place to grab a feed from.

Great place for lunch. The staff are lovely and the food is really good. The wildlife in the Bunyas is the main entertainment, too. Bonus!

My favourite place in Bunya mountains. Hundreds of wallabies are on the meadow next to it. You can have a delicious burger or ice cream with bunya nuts and observe wallabies from the sunny restaurant terrace. So romantic and relaxing! The staff is very friendly. And the prices are also very good. I come here every time when we go to the Bunya mountains.

I spent the weekend at Bunya Mountains with my hiking group. After the hike we went to Poppies on the Hill for coffee and refreshments. The closing time of the cafe was only half an hour away but the personnel welcomed us and they said everything on the menu was available. I decided to have scones made with Bunya nut flour and they tasted simply delicious. Coffee was great and all the members of the group were happy with their drinks and food. The experience was so positive that we come back the next day. The burgers were very tasty, the salad with the Bunya nuts was fresh and wholesome, ice coffee was delicious. The service was fast and the personnel very friendly. Again everyone enjoyed the real tasty nutritious food. The atmosphere of the place is fantastic, with tables outside facing the green loan and the forest. It is very relaxing and it the place offers tranquillity and chance of great conversations. Birds and wallabies are common and it is possible to buy suitable food for them and take photos. Certainly Poppies on the Hill contributed to make the weekend very special. I hope the Bunya nuts get introduced more and more in the menu.

This is as good as honest country food and service gets. Given the prices of their food, it has to rate as one of the best value-for-money eating establishments in the area. The outside view is a panorama of Bunya rain forest with heaps of bird life and occasionally wallabies.

Honestly beautiful, the food was beautiful, live band was playing good music and the atmosphere was very warm and happy. Beautiful views of everything, and there was even wildlife (the birds are very cute and very lovely to feed 💖💖💖). It was kinda cool to learn about the local nuts, and how they were based through some of the foods, absolutely lovely place!!!
