Cargo Road Winery

I am somewhat reluctant to write this review because part of me wants to keep Cargo Road winery to myself. Friends came here last year and raved about it and I can see why. Where else can you camp under the stars in a vineyard with sheep to keep you company. A perfect spot to sit and do nothing or at the most, wander up for wine tasting in the afternoon overlooking the valley. Definitely one of our best Easter weekend getaways. Beyond delighted!

Beautiful winery with camping. The owner James has great communication and is very accommodating, we had a wonderful overnight stop here, arriving late and still being offered purchase of wine, and then an amazing wine tasting (and great coffee) the following morning. Highly recommended!!

Fabulous afternoon of wine tasting at Cargo Road Wines. Thanks to James and Dom for giving us an insight into what it means to holistically manage a vineyard. The signature Zinfandel is fantastic. Beautiful vistas from the balcony make it the perfect spot for a relaxing vino. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful, relaxing three day stay at James and Dom’s Winery. Fabulous views, great wine and nibbles and James was very friendly, helpful and informative. The amenities were clean and everything you need. The location was great for experiencing what the area has to offer. The afternoon walks with a wine around the vines with the sunset and views, with our dog, off leash, was simply Devine. Would highly recommend

We had a great afternoon at Cargo Road Winery! An extensive list of wines on the tasting menu all delicious and unique to what we've tasted before. The man showing us the wines was very friendly and informative. To top it off this place is dog friendly and the two beautiful whippets were super friendly!

We camped at Cargo Road Winery for a week over the holidays and loved it. The camping sites are beautifully situated in between the grape vines, nicely spaced out for privacy, the facilities are great and the James and his staff were all lovely. Cherry on top is it's a winery, so great wines, cheese and tasting at your door step!

I went to Cargo Road winery with my family. They have the best cherries.. we enjoyed Cherry picking a lot. Specially kids. I would recommend their Merlot wine as well. It's really good. Great service and friendly environment.

An enjoyable highlight of our visit to Orange. We had a lovely afternoon of wine tasting up on their breezy outdoor deck on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Not too busy. Tasty light food to complement with a host that was very knowledgeable and passionate about their range of wines which were all delightful. Their version of the national staple, the Shiraz, was particularly memorable.

Worth a visit!

Did a wine tasting and cheese platter this week, graciously and knowledgeably hosted by Dom. Enjoyed pretty much all the wines (several tasted). Beautiful district views looking out over the vineyard from the upper deck. Also got our complimentary dog fix with Dom's two friendly whippets. Highly recommend.

The most down to earth experience I have ever had at a winery! James: owner, wine producer, sommelier, environmentalist.

The story he paints of how he cares for his vines and even more importantly mother earth through common sense, eco-friendly, and sustainable farming practices will absolutely amaze and inspire you (We spent an hour talking about Soil health and Gardening!)

Every wine I tasted has my seal of approval. I'm not in any way an expert in this field but this experience is worth the trip, wherever you hail from. Out of all the wineries visited by a local. This is truly Orange in a bottle. Give it a go!

Cargo Road Winery was THE BEST! My husband, two kids and I had an absolutely amazing experience camping there. On top of this, the wine is absolutely incredible! Some of the best we’ve tasted. We brought a few bottles back and everyone agrees :) thanks for having us guys! We’ll definitely be back! Next time we’ll definitely try the ravioli in the cafe/restaurant :)

Excellent experience. Extremely knowledgeable owner James with lots to share about his sustainable practices. A great business to support for the environmental practices alone.
Delicious wines and a lovely cheese plate. Some games to keep the kids occupied while you relax.
We missed accommodation onsite which would have been great - will be on our list to come back next time..

Lovely time spent in the loft accommodation, very comfortable with a spectacular outlook. We purchased a couple of bottles of Moscato which were very nice. an overall lovely place will certainly stay again.

Great spot! Parked our van here for a quick overnighter and we will return. Beautiful setting, friendly staff, yummy wines. What more can you ask for? And it's a convenient location to the local MTB parks! See you next time we pass through.

We can't miss coming here on our trips to Orange. We have been here a couple of times before and it's always consistently brilliant. This time around we tried some Barbera, Nebbiolo and Lagrein! Absolutely superb! Definitely worth a visit to try the wide range of wines.

Had a beautiful time in the Zim Loft. The sunsets and views were relaxing and expansive and we watched a beautiful rain storm and pass over the mountains. The staff were lovely and helpful and everyone I met enjoyed the wine. A beautiful location close to Federal falls and other local caves that are well worth a visit.

Service was excellent. Great wines and wine tasting. What a beautiful place to camp too

A great spot, lovely wines and a beautiful view. Our dog loved exploring the vineyard as we relaxed and chatted over delicious pasta.

Looking for a picturesque simple lunch, my family and I enjoyed wonderful views of the hills and the vines and fabulous hot bowls of various vegetarian ravioli on the deck. Matched with a cracking large glass of Zinfandel and a gentle whippet snoozing under the table. Unassuming, lovely service, and a well-priced half-mixed dozen to try at home.
