Woodenbong B&B

We absolutely loved our stay here and can’t wait to return. The cabin is even better than the pictures. The fireplace kept us warm, cosy and comfortable our whole stay. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the back deck watching the cows, horses and birds. The cabin is close to the main residence but still feels very private. The town of Woodenbong and surrounds are beautiful and we enjoyed our time exploring.

We’ve now stayed here 4 times this year, having decided 2023 is the year of the weekend getaway. The cabin is amazing value and allows for complete decompression. Hotel quality linen provided so all we pack is a change of clothes, food and beverages. The natural beauty of the surrounds is literally breathtaking. The town has a fabulous cafe (Pit Stop) and the pub has a glorious beer garden or a lovely old fashioned dining room when dark and cold outside. This is a special place and just 2.5 hours drive from Brisbane through the prettiest country.

Beautiful self contained accommodation nestled in the middle of stunning farmland located in a small country town just south of the scenic rim.

Powered by solar and battery with its own rain water tank this accommodation is eco friendly.

The interior was well thought out and cozy. The high ceilings were decorated with farmhouse equipment which suited the farmhouse vibe throughout. A freestanding wood fireplace takes the center of the room surrounded by a bar style table, a large and comfortable bed and a lounge area complete with books and boardgames. This leads out though the French doors to the deck where the views are stunning.

The kitchenette is complete with a bar fridge, microwave and stovetop. The bathroom is functional and clean with a shower that has good water pressure.

Last but not least the owners were very warm and welcoming. It was lovely having a chat with them.

My only complaint was that didnt get to spend enough time there. I look forward to returning with my partner soon.

In summary, this place is a hidden gem.

Stunning location for this simple but perfectly presented cabin. Lovely and welcoming hosts.

Pros
Lovely little cabin with all the amenities a couple would need. Location is rural with a great views out over the fields across to the mountain range. The hosts provide timber and fire lighters for the fire place which does a great job of warming the cabin on those cold winter nights. The bed is comfortable and bathroom and facilities were clean and tidy.

Cons
If you have an electric vehicle this is not a great option as the property is off grid meaning there is limited power and you cannot charge your car overnight. This is quite limiting if you are planning on using this as a base for day trips as you will find yourself having to go to places to charge up that you might otherwise not have visited. (FYI if you need a charger the closest and best option we found was at Warwick). Also the roads around Woodenbong are not in good shape at present due to the amount of rain the area had earlier this year. Finally due to Covid this is still not a B&B at the moment as Breakfast is not being provided.

Had booked a one night stay there with my partner. Upon arrival the host told us that the electricity will likely die at 10pm because they are solar powered and there wasn’t much sun that day. She also said the WiFi will be super slow and not suitable for more than checking emails and if we use it she’ll charge us extra. The cabin has a fireplace which the owner was very weird about us wanting to use. Mind you this was the only heating option available and she also asked us to not use it in the morning.

None of this was communicated at the time of booking. My partner has work calls at night and she needs the electricity and WiFi. Also it’s normal to have access to electricity past 10pm. We were both feeling unwell and my partner had a fever and we didn’t feel like stoking a fire all night and being cold in the morning and not having electricity all night.

Decided to leave and find alternative accommodations. The host refused to refund us
