Having worked here in the seventies . It was interesting to try to see what was left and how well the memory was compared to the placards' photos. Great off grid camping plenty of room

Very much a wow factor place. A freebie campsite. It is hard to imagine it was a thriving mining town. When the mine shut down they took everything leaving only the cement slabs and roads. A must do is drive the 6kms to the mine site. Absolutely stunning.

Stopped for lunch. Well manicured, plenty of parking for campers/caravans. Playground for kids, seats for lunch in the shade and clean amenities. Also an information centre onsite.

Very unique visit with beautiful bright blue radiation ☢water. No swimming. Sadly road is old with pot holes and some missing signs make mine harder to find than it should be.

Excellent collection of rocks & minerals, some interesting local history too. Convenient water and dump point out front for caravaners.

Get the double pass for the flying doctor's museum and save a dollar.

This is a very thorough and dedicated response to conserving local history to the northwest of Queensland. A highly impressive and traditional musuem expressing vintage Cloncurry and ghost mining towns of days gone by. The indigneous collection is one of the first displays you encounter as you enter the museum which is most appropriate; imagine stumbling across an old woomera in the bush one day! The items are in classic timber display cases that you don't get the chance to see often anymore. The grounds are well cared for, green with fountains, as there are mining and pastoral machinery in the yard - some of these artefacts are unique to Cloncurry/Mary Kathleen if you know the area. All in all a refreshing experience and clearly beloved community musuem. An underated gem!

Absolutely loved this place. Lots more there than we anticipated. The young guy who welcomed us to the premises was very helpful and very enthusiastic. Shame the machinery outside is so out in the open and open to the elements - needs to be looked after to save for the future.

Adjacent to the John Flynn Flying Doctors where toilets are a couple of metres to the left going through the front gates.
Centre car parking or side parking for caravaners. It is a long road off Ramsay Street.
There is a Pool entertainment area on the left heading down the street.

There is a new EV CHARGING BAY for car charging. I was surprised, I anticipated that they would be conjoined with service stations, not so. This is the first EV charging bay I have come across the Cloncurry region.

Excellent Museum - really enjoyed the visit, displays and movie. One little tip for management - the cashier should be issuing receipts for all monies handed over. I like to know my cash ends up in the right place.
