Mountain Dreaming Apartments

We came here during the off season just when the first snow has fallen so it was still relatively quiet.
The rooms are built on the back of the “The General” restaurant which i imagine could get quite noisy. Our room was the furthest away from the open balcony of the restaurant which was good.
The kitchen was well equipped with a cook top, microwave, dishwasher and all the necessary utensils.
we had a king size bed which was really comfortable and even though we only had a studio room it was ok for the 2 of us. We loved sitting on the seats in front of the window and watch the snow fall outside.

Absolutely fantastic! My partner and I stayed in a studio apartment for a week of skiing. Lovely view, gas fire and spa bath. Kitchenette had everything we needed and the staff were excellent. The General is great for a drink and lunch but not geared to less than parties of 4 in the evening. We found Jack Frost was great for dinner and drinks for couples. Would highly recommend these apartments and look forward to coming back next year!

My wife and I had a 4-night stay at Mountain Dreaming Apt2 has amazing views over the mountains. We found it very comfortable and quiet (even with loud music very close from the bar. Double glazing works a treat). If you're not a regular skier/boarder, keep in mind that you are booking in a Ski Resort and this is not a 5-star hotel with room service. You'll need to have very deep pockets if you want that kind of experience on mountain! This facility is conveniently located behind (semi-attached) the General Store Hotel (The Genny), so you have a pub at your door with attached supermarket. Access to the apartment is through the pub. The bus stops right out front to take you to the main lifts and the Big D (little ski area) is right next door. To unload/load your car there is 30mins parking also at the front. Important to consider when other places require trudging through the snow or use of over-snow transport for your luggage. Also I should give a shout out to the friendly staff in the Genny.

Perfect for a romantic getaway. Situated at the heart of Mount Hotham, this place is a gem. The rooms are beautifully done, overlooking the mountains, the kitchenette had all supplies, although we didn't cook, and the fireplace is a nice touch. The bathroom has heating too and a Jacuzzi which we very much enjoyed. There is also a laundry and dryer facility that is shared between two apartments. This place also has the best bar (and perhaps the only one open during off season). The food and cocktails were all lovely. We had an amazing time and a much needed break from the city. We also watched Milky way right from our balcony, so beautiful. The parking is plenty and on the street. However, during the snow season, you might have to park a little farther and catch a shuttle. Only thing to keep in mind is that you will have to climb down the stairs to access your room, so it could be any issue if you have too much luggage, but not a deal breaker. The entry to room is via secure pass key. Don't miss the sunset right across the road. The place is also close to snow lifts and to the starting point of Mt. Loch summit which I highly recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I am already dreaming of going back during the snow season.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff are so warm & friendly. They genuinely want to give you a enjoyable stay and nothing seems to be too much trouble. This place has everything you need. We started out in the studio apartment with great views, warm gas fired heater & spa. They offered us an upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment which gave the kids room to run and had washing machine, clothes dryer, dishwasher, couches & clothes drying room. With 3 small kids, I sometimes ordered food at the bar to take away & they saw me struggling with the kids and cheerfully offered to bring the food to my apartment. Big thank you to LT for helping carry all our stuff. You made my stay really special

We booked 2 apartments (2BR) for the Easter weekend and we had an absolute fantastic time. The apartments are clean and well maintained. It is equipped with kitchen and laundry facility which is really suitable for people staying for a couple of days. There was even some basic cooking items and condiments in the room.
The view is stunning and is overlooking the window/veranda. I could spend days just looking at the view. There is a grocery on site if you need to busy some food items, etc.
The staff are very friendly and nice to deal with. Having a bar on site is also a plus as we had fun during our visit. Staff at the bar are very fun and are very accommodating.
This will definitely go to my top list of favorite accommodations and I can't wait for the next visit!

Fabulous and bonus December Snow. Clean, cozy and gorgeous views from room and balcony and well stocked. Highly recommend with super friendly hosts and room cleaning guy. Only suggestion would be better signage as there isn’t any. You check in at The General.

We stayed here in December during a hiking holiday. After a 23km hike, it was so nice to stay in a room that was so clean and so very well appointed and with such great views. We loved the spa bath. Thank you to all the staff for your exceptional service and delicious food. Thoroughly recommended.

Our room was amazing! 2Bedroom - Great views. Close the the General for both dinner, drinks and just general lugging back and fwds with & In snow gear. The restaurant food was so good. Especially since we are big Laksa fans, the staff are great and friendly and loved there was a little general store in there as well.

At first we were worried we were going to freeze with the little space heaters but we actually got hot more often then not to be honest.

So glad we chose Mountain Dreaming for our 5night stay can't wait to get back there again next yr!

Beautiful accommodation, the view is breathtaking. The heater in the room makes it feel so cosy. All the amenities are great too. The best pub ever is located right above too!

An awesome experience from start to finish! First, the wonderful Stephanie who graciously agreed to change the dates for our reservation due to the unseasonal blizzards in September to November at no charge. Checking in early we found to our delight that not only was our room ready ahead of time but she had given us the best apartment with an awesome view! We were so pleased. She also mentioned it was Pizza Night and gave us good advice for our planned Razorback Ridge walk.

Instead of spending the day luxuriating in the amazing apartment like sensible people would, we headed towards the mountain to exhaust ourselves on the walk. Imagine our horror on returning after dark to be told that the kitchen had just closed and pizza was no longer available. Nor was any other hot food. We reacted in very different ways. My partner appeared to go into shock and denial and walked off with blank expression on his face to sit dejectedly in a corner. I began to plead with the manager explaining how the thought of pizza was the only thing that had got us through the final 10 agonizing kilometres. He rallied admirably in the face of my desperation and after speaking to the chef, advised that we could order small pizzas. After getting their recommendations on various toppings (my partner was suspicious of pumpkin as a pizza topping), we ordered 4 with different toppings! The manager also agreed to bring it to our room to save us the walk back to the kitchen after we had collapsed onto the couch.

Stephanie had earlier enthused that our bathroom was "the best bathroom in Hotham" and we now had the opportunity to appreciate and agree with her assessment. The pizza quickly arrived and we declared them also to be some of the nicest ever.

To report on the apartment itself, lovely finishings, well stocked kitchen with nice plates and utensils and complimentary pods for the espresso machine. Comfy bed with nice linen, Foxtel, it was peaceful during our stay, it was everything we could have wanted. We will definitely return. But next time maybe not get the pumpkin pizza.... (my partner was not convinced; I on the other hand like pumpkin as a topping)

So much better than what we expected! The place was easy to find, super friendly staffs, clean and tidy, and uses good quality products :) the accommodation is part of The General, a cosy bar with nice food and bar games.

Location to BigD is very close less than a minute walk. Studio is spacious and has a useful kitchenette. There is also a locker to put your wet snowboard and skis in. Service is great they are quite friendly and accommodating.

Thank you Mountain Dreaming for having us! What a perfect view out our windows! The kitchen and appliances were great, big spacious bed and amazing location. Very friendly staff! Cant wait to come back to stay again xx

Excellent place. Good service,. Lovely apartments with awesome views. Being on the mountain weather can change and view disappears in the clouds. Then the snow comes!! Highly recommended

Amazing room with a very comfortable bed. Heating in each room and a functioning kitchen which includes all cutlery (food available upstairs). Very recommended any time of year

Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The apartments have great for view. Wi-Fi was also quick which is important.

Beautiful apartment, all the things were there, free wifi, Foxtel, kitchenette, and also Beautiful views of the mountains. I loved it.

Awesome place to stay. A favourite stop over on our motorcycle rides through the mountains. Great food, great people working there and an amazing sunset.

Clean room, friendly staff! Made our first trip down at the snow a breeze. Can’t wait to come back!
