I rarely suggest somewhere is 'perfect' but the hospitality & warm, welcoming nature of the hosts, Shane & Kimberley well & truely exceeded expectations & deserve the praise.
Their skills & passion to provide delicious, hearty & plentiful meals for breakfast & dinner is impressive, ever changing their plans to suit their guests requests when they could. If bread was ever to become the only food available on earth then I'm checking in for life, their home made bread was so so good!!
They were totally engaging with their guests, both the kids & adults. Remembering names is an art I believe, they excelled at.
Shane stopped in his tracks one mid-morning, clearly busy, but stopped to assist my daughter with her ski boots & give a few tips, they never seemed hassled.
The lodge itself is very clean, warm & spacious. Beds very comfortable & bathrooms modern.
The many members that were there were really friendly & lots of good laughs & drinks around the fire place made it all feel like staying with friends.
Oh & you can ski out & in from the main door off the Big D run, seriously does it get better than this...unlikely.

Myself and two others were snowed in and had to find last minute accommodation. After a stressful day Shane and Kim (lodge managers) made everything better. They lent us some dry clothes, directed us to an open fire and put a beer in our hands. We were treated like part of the family. Aside from the outstanding hospitality the lodge is in an amazing location, is well appointed and with a 2 course dinner and cooked breakfast prepared for you, it really is a holiday. I have never experienced hospitality like this before. Beautiful accommodation, beautiful people, in a beautiful place. Sign me up!

Darryl, Fynn and I thoroughly enjoyed our delicious, comfy, welcoming stay at SCEG. Kimberley and Shane and their gorgeous girls were just beautiful and provided a "home away from home" but with superior meals! We can't thank you enough for making our ski holiday fantastic and commend you on your dedication and efficiency to suiting all the needs of your guests. We've had a wonderful week here at SCEG. Shane and Kimberley are amazing hosts and made us feel welcome the moment we walked in. They are superb chefs and have served up the most delicious meals for breakfast and dinner. The family-friendly lodge is spacious, warm and very comfortable. I highly recommend it!

My husband and I booked this accommodation last minute for a well needed ski trip. We'd read the reviews, which were awesome, but we still weren't sure what to expect.
If you'd like a place to stay that exceeds all expectations, this is the place! We were met by the hosts: Kimberley and Shane who welcome you like well missed long-time friends. It is just like home away from home.
The lodge is clean, comfortable, welcoming, friendly with a huge open fire to sit around after a days' skiing. You can ski out directly from the lodge to Big-D.
One of the most phenomenal and extraordinary things of this accommodation was the 'homecooked' meals provided for breakfast and dinner each night. I would liken these to 4-5 star restaurant quality. We had meals like: herb encrusted lamb, chicken scallopini, cookies & cream cheesecake, butterscotch self-saucing pudding, freshly baked bread, or waking up to freshly baked hot muffins and bacon and eggs cooked to order for breakfast.
Kimberley and Shane are so keen to please and nothing seems to be too much trouble. They work incredibly hard, but are always smiling and ready to sit down with their guests and have a laugh.
We have only positive to say about SCEG, Kim and Shane. Thank you for an amazing stay. We will be back!

Rooms and bathrooms are clean, nice fire place, delicious meals, friendly hosts. Shane and Kimberley were very welcoming. We are staying for 3 days 2 nights.. We came for the snow but we are thinking about what's for dinner tomorrow already.

What more can I say than, wow, fantastic and a huge thankyou to Shane, Kim and their family. It is like a home away from home. Have stayed for a week here, the accomodation is superb, the food is just a total delight. I feel like I am eating out at a delightful restaurant each night but somehow it also feels like being at home, just better.
The fire so delightful to relax by with a drink, after a days skiing., and into the evening.
I would happily stay here again, and again. Hotham has totally surprised me for the skiable terrain and has been wonderful. I will be back for sure.

SCEG is one of the only lodges at Hotham which offers a live in Chef and onsite manager. Hot breakfast every morning and two course meal each night! OMG - amazing!!!! The food is delicious, the hot chocolate is up there with the best, the view is stunning and ski in/ski out a lovely convenience! Have made some great friends from all over the country from staying here. Great people, Great place to stay.

Right next to the big D. ski in.out. just off the main road. Nice rooms, Quality meals, hot shower.. fire place... reasonably priced. Staff were very professional and friendly. After our day trip got trapped by the blizzard, Shane and Kim saved the day. Couldn't recommend this place more:)

We stayed for one night on August 10th. We were warmly welcomed by Sharon, Sian & members. The communal spaces & our bedroom were very cosy, clean & comfortable. The delicious dinner & breakfast topped off an excellent stay. Highly recommended.

Facilities are excellent, as is the location. Rooms are modern and very comfortable. Hosts Shane and Kim provided excellent service and the food was outstanding throughout our stay. Highly recommended.

Best stay on top of mountain!!! Best serve of food and nice host. Very clean and warm. We do night ski at night and ski in the terrace for sweet dessert

Had a fantastic stay here wouldnt stay anywhere else on the mountain after staying here , breakfast and dinner included and all meals were excellent. You can ski to door access which is so handy and managers are great people

Shane and Kimberley were amazing hosts, always helpful and fun to be around. Every meal was amazing. Thanks for a great trip ☺.

The place to stay at Hotham. Warm rooms. Great lodge managers and food. Cannot fault the service or location. Been coming for 5 years and will be back in 2018.
