Such a lovely beach to either walk on or 4 week drive. We enjoyed the camel rides across the dunes and into the sea. Others were sand boarding down the large dunes. It's a family place on a safe swimming beach with life savers, for walking, and a family restaurant. Do stay for the sunsets over the beach too.

The best place for a weekend away, plenty of parking, camel ride, sand boarding and plenty of restaurants around

One of best experience in my life. We went on to a wonderful tour in the sand dunes arranged by ‘ Port Stephen’s 4WD Tours ‘ company. I will recommend them. It's 40$ for 1.5 hours, A trip to sand dunes, learning how to do sand dunes skate boring, and a tour near the sea, get some clicks near the sea with complementary water. It's was wonderful experience please do visit.

Must do activities peak times parking is difficult to find so needs to be in advance, lots of water and sunscreen needed, you can buy water if needed, ware thongs and keep a pair of socks for kids

It was an amazing experience to be in the dunes and the kids loved the sand boarding. I wish they had a chair lift of some sort to go up the dunes for lazy adults like me 😄. The came ride seemed very popular, with long queues so we had to give up since it was a warm day and standing in a queue for long with kids weren’t something I enjoy!

Worth to try few times sliding from top. If you are scared, just try from a place that not too high. The sand is so smooth and tiny, nice one! Really enjoy this special experience.

The Stockton sand dunes (which stretch up here to Anna Bay) are the largest coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. Here's how to explore:

👉 If you have a 4WD, just look for the labeled tracks and drive around yourself! The Stockton Dunes (about halfway down the beach) are equally popular.

👉 If you'd like to see more (including the Tin City where Mad Max was filmed), hop on a tour. Most tours include sand sledding down the dunes.

👉 Ride a camel. 🐫 They don't go far or over dunes, but it's a great experience.

❗Beach too crowded? Follow the path north (near the Anna Bay Skate park) and you'll find a beach where most tourists don't go. And great rock formations, too.

🚘 About parking. It gets crowded on weekends and holidays. Get there early. Otherwise, expect some driving around, although parking on the side of the road is allowed.

🍴Not lots of options, just one crowded cafe. Pack picnic if you can.

Enjoy this amazing natural resource on Worimi Land.

Wow, this place is beautiful. The beach itself is so long, almost all the way down to Stockton by the looks of it, massive. Then there are the sand dunes, amazing huge sand dunes rising out if the back of the beach. Camel rides, ATV tours. Plenty of parking if you follow the road right round. Even parking on the sand if you need to. What a site, well worth a visit.

The sand dunes are so wide that it looks like a desert. It's good for taking pictures with the exotic scenery in the background, and sand boarding is also very exciting.

What an experience. A bit of a natural phenomenon. Kids had a great time tobagganing down the sand dunes. Definitely worth doing if it's your first time. Camel rides were really popular as well. 4WDToursRUs was a great company to work with, friendly service. Will definitely come back!

Entirely different world. A place where the dessert meets the sea. Beautiful! The camel rides are fun. There are many other activities like ATV rides here. Adding to that, the beach is pet friendly 😍

An amazing place where there is a beach on one side, then what appears to be endless sand dunes on the other. There are also camel rides available here. Come here during sunrise or sunset for amazing views.

Not a common sight seeing open sea and desert merging. Its was a fantastic sight for sure and a must see on your way to Nelson Bay.

Not a fan of using animals for fun so didn't end up on one, but the queues definitely suggest that to be very popular activity.

Amazing place. It's heavily windy when you go high to slide down. If you want to enjoy this place to the fullest then visit as early as possible because if you are a Fan of dessert and sliding in the dessert you must have little breaks in between to save energy to climb up again n again. It's awesome place for taking pictures. Take bottle of water for each because there is nothing there.

Sunrise at the Bay was so amazing. I went on running on the beach for 10k. Then we had best experience on 4W drive on Sand Dunes and Sand Surfing. It was so windy day but we enjoyed there. They charged $35 for this experience.

So much better than we thought it would be. Would absolutely recommend.
Parking was down a slight hill and on a sandy gravel mix, but no problems with our massive sprinter van.

Beautiful beach with many family friendly facilities. Camel ride was a highlight. For 4WD fanatics, sand dune drive is a must. Need a permit.

Huge sand dunes! Lots of things to do here. From sitting on the beach to tearing up the dunes in 4x4s. There are also camel rides and equipment rentals to go down the dunes on sandboards/snowboards.
