I'm Amity and last year my school, Wynnum State School came in Yr 5, I LOVE learning about war history, and the army, this camp was literally a dream come true. I loved all the activities, and I love Ernie (I think he's called) the Emu. Food was awesome, really enjoyed this camp!

Emu Gully was a great place to visit! The activities including several teamwork exercises, Tunnel Rats of Vietnam and the Siege of Tobruk, in addition to multiple water activities. The activities mix Australian history into fun games however, some of the activities are a bit frightening such as the Tunnel Rats of Vietnam, which makes you feel quite claustrophobic.

The coolest part of this place is the emu mascot, which I have attached pictures of below.

Pretty good camp! Went there for a year 11 leadership thing. It's certainly not for everyone, the staff weren't pushy for those who didn't wanna do the activities, but they encouraged you to do them as much as they could. Incredibly supportive facilitators, especially with activities you struggle with, (for example, I was deathly afraid of the night walk but my groups facilitator was incredibly encouraging and literally held my hand throughout it, bless him) the food was okay, maybe could have done with a little more, considering the strenuous activities we were to do, but seconds were an option so I suppose that suffices :) the tunnels were an incredible experience, I loved going through them and helping my classmates through them, and for anybody concerned about size, they're honestly fine! Stories for the activities were so interesting, I really enjoyed them. Dorms were fine, though very hot on arrival but aircon is provided. 9/10! Would go again with friends!

Awesome experience, had a great time as a part of my school camp, enjoyed the night walk, as well as the mud course and other various activities. Highly recommend if you are looking for something exciting and educational. Teaches great values focused around teamwork and mateship and the ANZAC history, some of which you wouldn't normally hear. Thank you to Jake and Katie for being great facilitators. Proud to be on team Bravo, the ring champions ;)

My son had a great time on this camp. He really enjoyed the challenges and spoke positively about all the activities. He also said it was the best camp food he’d ever had!

Amazing experience! I was fortunate enough to get to spend a weekend here with #youngveterans. What a great place for the entire family to learn about the ANZACs whilst challenging yourself, learning teamwork, cooperation and having an amazing amount of fun. Adam and Joe were fantastic wealths of knowledge and so hospitable. Highly recommend if you have the chance to go, take it!

I went to this camp and swallowed the water and got dysentery. I spent the rest of the camp sleeping in the same bed as Mr Dubery. He gave me back massages while I was sleeping. That made it so much better. Would recommend getting violently ill.

Went here for school camp and that's where we will be going for the rest of school. This was my best camp experience ever, the activities were so fun and they never forced you to do anything. We did pushups if someone ruined the teamwork. Wasn't allowed to bring my phone though so I didn't get photos. This was honestly so fun especially because of the mud, I recommend this greatly!!

Camp was pretty good. Nathan and Brittney were scary. I died of heatstroke and couldn't do activities. Rations were lit, i lived off noodles for 4 days.

Pro tip: DONT SWEAR or else push ups

Great facilities. Fun games. A bit of rope and a bit of tough love is just what most kids need these days 😉

i've just come back from 3 days from 'the challenge - emu gully adventure education group' and i'm going to give a rundown on the camp.

FOOD
dinner day 1: was a butter chicken, and was amazing.
82/100
don’t ask why i’m using a 100 mark scale.

supper day 1: was a cup of milo, and your choice of an arnott's assorted biscuit. the milo was cold, but that is the only downside.
85/100

breakfast day 2: your choice of hashbrowns, eggs, sausages, cereal or baked beans. i chose everything except for the baked beans or cereal. again, it was full of flavour.
90/100

lunch day 2: was a wrap with pork and your choice of salad, most people didn't like the pork, but i didn't think it was too bad.
82/100

the other meals were good, but not worth talking about.

ACTIVITIES
day 1: hula hoop competition - you had to get a hoop from the first person in your group to the last, with it always being connected to at least one person. a great first exercise in terms of team building.
95/100

day 2: you had 3 activities that all went for 45 minutes, that you rotated in your groups in. the activities were the swinging log, commando cable crossing and escape from colditz. they were all good, and again, got you to think and work together as a team. can't really fault it.
96/100

still day 2: after lunch, you had 4 more activities that you rotated in. these included the siege of tobruk, bridge over the river kwai, tunnel rats of Vietnam and the kokoda track. they all had a WW1 or WW2 theme to it, which i will talk about later. the tunnel rats of Vietnam was very claustrophobic for some people, but it is easily doable for all. the kokoda track was a mud walk that you had to carry one of your team on a stretcher through, with small mounds to carry them up. the only bad thing was the mud was freezing cold.
87/100

day 2 night: was a night walk. again, you had to carry someone on a stretcher, but this time, it was a 4km walk on a dirt track, going up and down steep hills etc.
70/100

other things
- camp instructors were funny (my instructors were Brittany, Chelsea, and Jack.)
- every activity had a strong tie to either WW1, WW2, or the Vietnam War. they gave a 10-15 minute story at the start of each activity, which explained why we are doing it etc.
- after each activity, there was a 10-15 minute debrief, going over how we worked as a team, and what we could do better if it was to be done again.
- we had a talk from a Vietnam war veteran which was really interesting.
- cabins were good, however they did get a bit cold through the night.
- Ernie the emu is amazing.
- in your day groups, you have none of your friends. this is good though, as you can get closer with other people.

if you have the chance to go, i strongly recommend it. you get a lot closer with your year cohort.

Myself, and 25 of our friends from Ipswich State High School, love this camp. The camp is an army based camp, and we went through some really challenging activities. Now, I usually do not give 5 stars, but this place absolutely deserves it because one hardworking staff member called Nicole gave Inspirational stories, encouraged us to do more than "giving it a go", and so so much more. On the team side, we came up with so much ideas. Hands down, best camp ever. Thank you!

Great place for fun. Had a church fun day afternoon. There were gel blaster games, capture the flag, and protect the president, along with horse riding, and buggy driving. Heaps of fun for all ages.

my son has just returned from a Leadership camp and had an absolute blast. Its a survival camp, so they had rations to cook and make themselves, but there was PLENTY of food available. He certainly was not left hungry at all. He loved it and would go again. If it was cold as someone else has said, then schools choose the wrong time to go - not the camps fault.!
The only thing seemed to be lack of communication between the school and camp as to what to bring. He was given a Mess kit which had things he had packed as per the list, so could have taken less in his bag. Otherwise excellent

Bloody awesom place! Just got back from a school camp, john and Laurie were my instructors both great people and are very passionate about their jobs. Was an amazing experience and I definitely recommend going. You won't regret it. Facility's are suberb showers and toilets are also great for a camping experience!

This is Kayne from the Wilsonton group.
The Emu Gully staff were top notch and couldn’t have been any better.
They are a great bunch of people to have a yarn to.
Special thanks to Brittany, Adam, and Joe, for a great few days there.

It was greatly appreciated.
