Dermody's Campground

Great little campground that has become a regular during the cooler months. There are several large sites, each with a built fire place and picnic table. The long-drop is pretty good as far as long-drops go.

It is not as close to the river as Hugett’s Crossing. It will take you 5-10 minutes of walking down the steepish creek bank to the water. This part is not wheelchair or pram friendly.

Great place to camp. We camped over NYE. There are not many sites but it never really got over crowded as people come and go-pretty frequently.
Track is a bit rough coming in as it’s really designed for 4WD, especially if it has rained. We made it through in an i30…but would I recommend it?? Not sure I would however we made it in and out unscathed…just.
There is now also a drop toilet there too, so a great bonus, as this was not updated yet on the info. Very quiet and the river is just pristine!

Great location

Pretty good little spots lots of choice and not to far to walk to the water. Despite being first weekend out of lockdown there was a couple of free spots .

2wd access in good weather (I've been there a dozen times in my Camry). There are a few different camp sites on the loop containing picnic tables and fire pits that need some repair. No toilets or bins and some cretins leave their rubbish behind. We've seen a lot of birds, a swamp wallaby and a bloody big goanna. The walks are picturesque.

If your after somewhere to get away from it all (including phone and internet service) this is the perfect place to stay. A newly built drop toilet, free camping close to the Avon River, great for bush walking. No mossies.

Nice spot, but Huggets Crossing is probably a better campsite.

Nice and peaceful but getting more popular as time goes by

No one here when we came weekend mid January. That can be a good thing but it felt kids of deserted and scary for just me and kids. We ended up going to Blue Pool instead. Water was stagnant looking - lots of grime and build up on rocks. But lovely nonetheless.

It was such isolated place. The road we had to take was too rough and 4WD was necessary. Once we arrived there, nobody was around and it was a very scary looking place for children and family. There was one toilet and some camping area with fire place, however the river was further out.
We ended up going to another campground soon after arrival because the place was very deserted for family. Not recommended for families.

Didn't make it to Dermody's, got to within 5ks not realising that a 4WD was necessary to complete the trip.
