Such a great spot. Busy at peak times. No allocated sites. First come first serve. Think twice on a long weekend.

Set in absolutely stunning Parks Vic National Park Little Desert, Horseshoe Bend campground is a peaceful and ultra relaxing stay. Access to the river for swimming and in close proximity to many of the walking tracks through the National Park. A bird lovers paradise. Flushing toilets also available at campground. A beautiful and interesting area to explore and close to Dimboola.

Nice area tocamp by the river.

As of 02/01/22 there is current a tree fallen over a path, but you can drive around the other side. River water level is high. Flush toilet is clean and stocked with soap and toilet paper.

Horseshoe bend area is more exposed sunlight in the morning and afternoon than ackle campground. On days that gets to 35-37 degrees, take care when selecting campsites.

So, so nice. Plenty of shade. Right on the river. Shared fire pits are stocked with wood (presumably a local contribution). Toilets are flushable and quite clean!

Lovely campsite nestled amongst gumtrees along the banks of the Wimmera. Campsites spread apart with fireplaces and tables at most. The river is very tranquil and perfect for a spot of fishing or a swim to cool off. Good range of hikes near the campsite too. Make sure you book and pay, parks Vic do a lot to keep these places pristine and accessible so important to support and ensure they can continue to maintain such spots. Also recommend driving a bit further in and finding a camp by the banks... We were close to the entrance and didn't realise so many people would be driving in late at night with headlights shining into our tent, camping right next to us. Sites are unnumbered but there's plenty of space to spread out and have a little privacy!

Absolute gem. Wildlife galore. The river is to die for on a hot day. Plenty of sites, plenty of shade. Great trails to walk. And the local pub is a find.

Great spot, but beware the marauding kookaburras. Once they get a sniff of barbecue, nothing stops them. They've been known to swoop in and snatch sausages out of grown men's hands.

The campsite is classic bush camping with river arcing around a dozen sites with firepits and tables scattered throughout an undulating site lightly shaded by small trees.
There is one clean toilet block with 3 toilets and one urinal. There is untreated bore water to wash and flush.
It's a bike ride to town (7km) but beware, the coffee machine is switched off at 3pm!!
Possums & black face Roos will be seen in the the campsite.
The river is great for swimming. There are sandy beaches.
Horseshoe Bend is used by local Dimboola youth for fun so is likely to be more noisy. Ackles bend is a more quiet with similar facilities .

Simple camping spot with toilets and pretty good swim options. Only complaint was the aggressive ants and flies, of course no fault of the national park.
