Merriwa Cakes & Pastries

Highly recommended a visit to Merriwa Bakery.
We planned a stop for the pies, which were so good, with a nice slightly crunchy pastry and full of flavour. We also walked out with Vanilla slice, Caramel slice and Macadamia slice which were just as delicious.
One of the best Vanilla slices and pies we have tried.
The staff are really friendly and helpful. The prices were really good too.
It can be a little busy, but it's worth the visit!
We dropped in on our way home and it was just as good!

Delicious pies, pastries, treats! The coffee is great too. Service is wonderful. Always make the effort to stop here when driving through. The dining area inside and outside could do with an update, but it’s still usable and clean.

OMG - probably the best meat pie I’ve ever had. I think it was called Chunky Pepper Beef. Tender beef perfectly cooked in the most divine flaky pastry. Evidently the recipe is a family secret that even the staff don’t know. Just as well I live a long way away - I’d be a VERY regular customer! 😋

Fast, friendly service - the pies and sausage rolls were hot and delicious and big ticks given to the apple slice and blueberry muffin (unfortunately the apple turnovers had already sold out!). Great milkshakes as well.

Busiest place in town great pies & cakes. Always stop here when passing through. When all the trades stop you know it's good. Pies are about $6.50 is depending on what you get.

Theirs pies are too delicious to be ignored, they make me have to pay a visit each time I go through the town. The store is very clean and the staffs are very nice to their customers.

Best cheese and bacon pie I’ve ever had

Our favourite place to stop and have morning tea when coming this way. Friendly staff and a good arrangement of food. Toilet inside and you can sit inside or outside.

What a cheerful place to start the day! Lovely service and friendly staff.

Our regular drop in when travelling between Newcastle and western NSW. Food always freshly baked, good barista hot drinks. Popular with locals too, always a good sign.

Thoroughly enjoyed the pies and cakes I had here. The lady who served me was friendly and competent even though the shop was busy.

Had mint lamb pie, sausage roll and meat pastie. Wife and shared all and was awsome.
Coffee great as well.

Well worth the stop. I had the Chicken Mornay pie that they keep running out of throughout the day and keep baking more as they go. The pie was very tasty and the flaky top was the sort of pastrie that you need a handheld vacum cleaner to clean up your shirt and lap when you finish. Very well priced as well. With a large range of pies, pastries sandwiches and cakes. Its a great stop for anyone. Except for grumpy people.

Best pie and vanilla slice ever! I would consider driving from Newcastle to Merriwa just for the day to get one they are so good!

Hands down the best bakery in NSW.
Pies are always amazing, a wide variety of options, the caramel slice is the BEST, coffee is amazing, Focaccia toasties are to die for.
Worth the 52km drive every time.

Excellent delicious pies, loved the pepper chunky steak, the mushroom chunky steak and the curry chicken.
Feels light and not greasy at all and taste fabulous. Very well priced too!

The staff here were lovely and accommodating especially for a Sydney-sider who is pretty picky

Always stop here for a break and great food. It was busy and buzzing !
