A recent journey from Brisbane to Pottsville, despite the inclement weather, proved worthwhile due to a truly exceptional dining experience at Pipit. It is culminated in a meal that surpassed all previous culinary encounters.

Both the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the service, particularly from Alice and the chef, were exemplary. The experience demonstrably justified the expenditure, offering excellent value. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the entire staff for their remarkable work. You guys are genius!

A truly wonderful, unforgettable dining experience!
My mum and I dined twice here in the week leading up to Christmas, once at Pennys Bistro and the other for Pipit. Both the food and service was so special.
The fave at Penny’s was definitely the filled tagliatelle with bay lobster. At pipit the amazing range of snacks, and bite sized pieces in each course made for a wonderful night. The fave here were definitely the smoked bonito.
The house made bread and butters were perfection on both nights, but the only miss was the smoked celeriac with chickpeas (Penny’s Bistro). We ate it but felt it was lacking flavour and depth in comparison to all the other delicious courses.
The final comment to make was the attention to detail with the service. Both the chefs and front of house staff presented the food beautifully and were extremely knowledgeable about what they were serving. We definitely dined on a very busy night so it did take longer than expected, however it was delicious so we didn’t mind.
Can’t wait to be back!

Absolutely amazing culinary experience. Ben & the Team are so passionate about sourcing local produce and creating such amazing experiences. I highly recommend.
I even took in my organic Cucamelons & Sand paper Figs in for Head chef as I read that they like to source local seasonal produce.

Had the most incredible gastronomical experience at Pipit with my partner! We went for the set menu for lunch and for over three hours we were presented with such incredible ingredient combinations, with mind blowing cooking techniques and a wonderful concept of making the most of the best locally sourced produce. We loved the service, the stories and the empathy from the staff. Our favorites were the Bonito sashimi, the lobster add on, the veggie plate and the black sapote desserts. Definitely looking forward to celebrate at Pipit again soon!

Such an intimate experience sitting overlooking the kitchen, talking to the Chef! Food was AMAZING and beautifully paired with aperitifs, wines and fortified wines.
100% recommend you make the journey - this is a destination that should not be missed!

What an incredible experience, covering everything from the flavours to presentation, staff interactions, music and beautiful surroundings! Ben and the team have created a space to serve dishes that are masterfully composed. Every part of each dish is sourced as locally as possible. We sat at the bar for Sunday lunch (which I highly recommend if you'd like to witness the team's skill up close). Staff were happy to engage and discuss the process behind each dish, sharing knowledge and chatting throughout our sitting. The vibe in the kitchen is light and really refreshing to see- the joy of what is being created really shines through. Well done everyone at Pipit! We couldn't rate this dining experience any more highly!

Extraordinary dining experience!
Pipit has been on my 'must try' restaurant list since I moved to the northern rivers in 2022. Finally got to dine there last night. Why did I wait so long?!
I've handled publicity for restaurants - including hatted restaurants - for many years and understand what it takes to make an excellent restaurant. Well Pipit ticks all the boxes! The food is sensational and so creatively and carefully put together by the incredible chefs using the best local produce, great and well curated wine list, lovely atmosphere, and the service... wow! No wonder Alice, front of house, recently won the Good Food Service Excellence Award. She is awesome. Friendly, cheeky, knowledgeable and so attentive. Even down to the birthday card she presented my partner with at the end! And her team are also excellent and really knew all about the meals and could answer our questions. Our experience truly was extraordinary. It's fine dining but in a really relaxed way. We left with smiles on our faces and couldn't stop talking about the meal and everything about the night. Next time I won't leave it so long to dine at Pipit 😊

A very unique dining experience with a decadently devine Degustation menu. So much thought and care has lovingly gone into preparing each and every aesthetically beautifully presented dish. Pleasing on the eye and on the tongue and must be appreciated slowly with some beautiful organic wine, great company and plenty of time. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon Birthday lunch…..

Easily the best food I have had in my life.
Service was amazing, chefs taking their time while they are busy explaining ingredients and fermentations. Total nerds of food and wine. Loved it.
If I was rich I would buy a house next to the establishment so I could eat their everyday

Amazing lunch! We were welcomed and hosted by friendly and knowledgable staff. We had the short lunch menu which was plenty of food and had lots of variety. Everything was beautifully cooked with care which we could witness from the bar seating. All the flavours were delicious and unique and the setting was warm and atmospheric.

Booked a table at Pipit for a friend’s 40th. Service was fantastic, food was great and love the intimate space and open kitchen. Degustation menu was yummy though the portion is a tad bit smaller than what I would have preferred. Nevertheless, recommended if you’re visiting the area.

Had the 5 course (long course) for $115 pp. Absolutely superb seasonal, sustainable produce from local farmers. Service was professional, friendly, just attentive enough without being obtrusive. All dishes were balanced extraordinarily well in terms of flavours and textures... you could taste each ingredient in each dish... even the most subtle flavours. No ingredient was unnecessary on each plate - things on the plate complemented and accentuated each other. Such a lovely and high quality dining experience.
Kudos to the chefs for putting the dishes together so superbly. You gotta try this place if ever you’re in the area!

Absolutely exquisite restaurant in the most beautiful beach side town. Hands down better than any ‘fine dining’ experience I’ve done in Australian cities and also great value for money. Food is fresh, seasonal and service is diverse and genuine. The open kitchen reflected a workplace free of angry chefs and full of genuinely passionate and focused chefs.

My only gripe is the service does span over 3 ½ hours which does feel like a bit too long a wait between the later courses if you aren’t getting the wine pairings.

This is a culinary experience that delights. Ben and his team are phenomenal at what they do. From the front of house staff to the back of house staff, this restaurant runs seamlessly. The set dinner is divine and excites the palate. My favourite was the Celtuce with Albacore, the Grouper with pea flowers and the Strawberry gum leaf dessert. My only regret is not coming here sooner. This is fine dining at its best in a piece of paradise at Pottsville on the Northern Rivers. I highly recommend Pipit Restaurant.

Absolutely amazing experience. Course after course of delicious, surprising, inventive dishes, with a good range of wines, many by the glass and half-glass. All topped off by great service from staff who are happy to engage and talk about the food and drinks. In such a small and intimate restaurant, you're sometimes being served by the chefs themselves which gives you great insight into the food. They even make some of the drinks (vermouth) themselves.

Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back.

So different, yet so good.

I've seen too many restaurants trying to be different, putting together the most fashionable ingredients on one plate, but the flavours didn't really complement each other - the chef at Pipit clearly knows what he's doing, using the most surprising combinations of ingredients, creating beautifully balanced dishes. Creations like these don't come easily, and they can't all be from past experience - there must have been lots of experiments, a process of trial and error, killing off ideas that weren't good enough. Bear in mind they have an ever-changing menu, so you've got to appreciate the amount of work involved (and the chef's talent of course).

For us, the most memorable dish of the night was the bamboo shoots, which were served raw (but without any astringent taste of the raw bamboo) on a bed of steamed bamboo, seasoned with lobster jelly and almond miso milk, then topped off with dried sea lettuce and lobster roe. As someone growing up eating (cooked) bamboo shoots - fresh or dried - we found this a really pleasant surprise, that texture was just so different to what we had been used to.

The sugarloaf cabbage stuffed with bay lobster and finger lime, which was on their very first menu (then with mud crab as filling) and brought back recently as an add-on, is not to be missed. It had unexpected texture and some rich, eggy flavours that just bursted in my mouth.

I also love the fact that they use locally sourced produce - there were so many varieties we had never seen before. Too bad we live 500 miles away and can't be here all the time!

Absolutely fabulous experience albeit April 2021. Tardiness aside from my behalf, I found the photos on my phone and had to share and rate as the degustation was interesting and still vivid due to it's intricacy and detail. Flavour bombs, excellent wine list and great service.
