Lithgow Valley Medical Practice

Today was the first time that I visited the Lithgow Valley medical practice as a new patient and I was most impressed with the whole experience. I booked in to see Dr Rashid. The wait time was reasonable and she was highly experienced, professional and friendly. She made me feel at ease and went the extra mile to ensure that my health issue was dealt with fully. After 18 months of living in the Blue Mountains, I have finally found a professional and caring doctor and a great practice. Also, a shout out to Naomi on reception. Very warm and welcoming.

Have seen a few Drs over the years here. Can usually book an appointment with my regular Dr quickly, if not, have seen other Drs the same day. Have had no problems at all, my kids are also treated well when they need an appointment. They also provide pathology on-site which us really helpful, really patient with kids.

Staying with a friend in Lithgow, I became unwell and used this practice. Dr Rayyan saw me. I could not have hoped for a better doctor. Friendly, thorough, very professional. I would recommend this practice to anyone. Bulk billed as well.

Lovely receptionists and great doctors

Told me when I first went there they would always have a female Dr.
Didn't bother to let me know there female Dr was leaving until 4 weeks before she left for good.When I went there the first time they were given all my records free of charge. When I left to find a female Dr they charged me $33 to transfer my files. Find it appalling that they charge already struggling pensioners an unnecessary fees when they were given my files for FREE.Most of the receptionists are beautiful however there is one receptionist that chooses what order you go in on how well she knows you. This same receptionist refuses to return my blood test forms that were written by NO-ONE at this practise. My specialist (nothing to do with this surgery) wrote that blood test request. Would avoid this practise at all costs. UPDATE 31/5/2022 - They now have 2 female Drs working there.

I found the staff to be very kind and Dr Ruby is the woman Doctor I have been searching for since moving to this area 10 years ago. As for wait time, it was less than 15 minutes. Which is very acceptable to me.

Would be five stars if it wasn't for the long waits and having appointments on time not that hard to be on time

Took them 5 months to process my Medicare rebate.
Paid $80.00 out of pocket and only today after 5 painful months dealing with them I finally received my rebate.
Never will I step foot into this disgusting practice ever again in my life.

This medical clinic has been my go-to for a long time, but I was VERY disappointed to show up to my appointment today and be told bulk billing is not longer an option, and that the minimum price of my consult would be $80!!! MINIMUM! and increasing from there if your appointment takes longer. yes you get a bit of that back later on, but not all of us in the current cost of living crisis can afford to lose upwards of $80 that day. I was also not informed of this on the phone when I booked or in my reminder message, meaning I had no time at all to book an appointment with a doctor I can afford, meaning getting treatment has been postponed for me.

The privatisation of medical care in this country is wrong and it’s sad to see people profiting from people’s sickness and disease. I feel terrible for all the people who have a regular GP at this clinic who have conditions that they’re seen for weekly, bi-weekly, fortnightly etc. who can’t afford $80+ every time, who now need to go find a good GP, that understands their condition and their treatment who also doesn’t charge, and everyone missing possibly important appointments because of this change.

please, inform your patients of this change BEFORE the appointment so we don’t have to unnecessarily delay medical treatment!!

Annoyingly a few people I know have recently booked appointments and weren't told that they no longer bulk bill. Be prepared to pay now if you go. Not an issue in itself, but they should be notifying their customers of the change (during booking for example).

Dr Samuel Devalrabhu,is very rude to woman,especially with mental distress. I had self harmed,he refused help. He treated me like a drug seeker and sent me away with deep cuts on my arms and no adavice as to what I should do to help myself. I was in tears and having an anxiety attack. I believe he was negligent. I plan to report him to his boss.

I went to Dr Rayan in desperate need of help. He was, quite simply one of the rudest and most aggressive GP's I have seen. He called my local GP an idiot, said he was sick of getting patients like me "dumped" on him and when I asked him to calm down and stop yelling at me as I was clearly in distress and actually told him I was having suicidal thoughts he told me to get out and go to the hospital. I will 100% be lodging a formal complaint with both the Health Commission and also the surgery as I know Dr Baraz well and he is a kind and caring Doctor. Too many times GP's treat mental health patients as less than human and it has to stop.

Rude foregners, little command of English, lesser command of manners. Tried to force a covid jab on me as soon as I sat down. Avoid like the plague

Dr Ruby Rashid refuses to prescribe acne medication for fear of my mental health, the irony is she just made and left me suicidal!
