Brickendon Estate provides a unique glimpse into Tasmania's rich colonial history. The host was informative and friendly while the estate was like taking a step back through time. Set admist the historic buildings and gardens, we had plenty of interactions with the animals while we learned of the family history. It has many beautiful event spaces for functions. It was a lovely experience overall and the home made scones with honey butter were delicious.

I am a wedding photographer & whenever my clients choose Brickendon Estate to get married at I just know the photos are going to be INCREDIBLE! This is truly such a stunning venue & one that I would be happy to photograph at every single day. The versatility of the venue is amazing - there are so many little nooks to hold a ceremony in & even more spots for photos. The lighting is stunning & the gardens are unreal. I'd LOVE to photograph your wedding at Brickendon Estate!

Fascinating peice of Tasmanian family history, with a variety of unique historical buildings, it is well set out and worth the visit. The 10 min walk down to the jetty gives great views of the river, rolling farm lands and distant mountains. Cross the road and visit the estate where you can find a magnificent wollemi pine and cork tree amongst the extensive gardens.

Beautifully presented site with great interpretive brochure and QR codes. Gain a sense of both the past and future. Family friendly with chickens, turkeys , ducks, Guinea fowl all with chicks in tow. Loved the Devonshire tea now being trialled. Will be back to try the accom.

Great for gardeners, photographers as well as those with an interest in history, architecture and genealogy!

Brilliant old world working farm. Brings back memories of my early life on a farm of a similar era. The hosts are friendly people typical of country folk.

We had such a lovely day and night here. We stayed in the Pea in the Pod cottage which was super cute, very clean, comfy beds, warm and amazing views of the fields and sheep in the morning. The breakfast provided was an added bonus and really appreciated - juice, milk, cereal, toast, just what you need for a quick and easy start to your day. Included a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, kitchen sink, heated blankets, radiator, wall heater and TV. Next day we got to feed the animals including Aggie the pig, chooks, ducks, Ed the cow, horses and the sheep. It was simple but fantastic. Richard was very helpful. We toured the farm and the historic buildings. We also enjoyed touring the gardens across the road. I would just add for those with any accessibility concerns that there are two steps to get up to the cottage and no hand rail, and the bathroom and toilet are quite compact and no hand rails. I would also totally get married here, was a beautiful place to hold such a function or an event. And we came at the end of autumn/winter, can only imagine it would be even more gorgeous in spring summer bloom.

This place is amazing. There are so many historical about their family heritage, the old building, and all the equipment that they used in the past. I enjoyed a lot event forgot to look at the time. Please don't forget to visit the farm village on the opposite to the garden as well I just realised when I got home.

There are a lot of animal walk around and so friendly. I was so happy to visited this place. If anyone wanna enjoy your day off but don't know where to go this is just perfect. 😻

The entrance ticket is $14/adult.

The cabin was rustic but comfortably decorated. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in a 1 BR cottage with back porch overlooking the fields, and learning about the estate’s history and the family tree. There are other historic buildings to explore and beautiful gardens to walk. This is a peaceful location with stores and restaurants just a short drive away. It wasn’t far to the Launceston airport for our departure the next day. Definitely recommend!

Brickendon Estate is a 7th generation family farm. It is still a working farm and was opened to the public to ensure the convict built buildings could be maintained. It is one of the most intact properties of this nature that we have seen.

It is self guided and we found it a lot of fun. There are quite a few animals and all of them are gorgeous and well mannered. The cutest would be the new lambs. The crack ups would be the turkeys. And the friendliest would be the sheep. Aggie, the pig, had the worst table manners and the donkey was only interested in his hay. Then there are the handsomest roosters of all shapes and sizes. And my Tassie favourites, the ducks. I know they only want food but I’d like to think they are after my love.

Great little village. The buildings were very interesting and it is clear that the family responsible for the upkeep are very proud of Brickendon. The grounds are well maintained, although id recommend boots in wet weather as it could get muddy. There is a walk between Brickenden and Woolmers estate. I didn't do the full walk only part and it is beautiful. The staff were insistent that I watch a short DVD about Brickendon history and I enjoyed it immensely, learning about the family and the legacy that is Brickendon.

Such an amazing glimpse back into history.
We stayed in the Gardener’s cottage which is self contained with an open fire in the lounge. Continental breakfast with farm fresh eggs included. So lovely sitting on the veranda in the sun in the mornings, made extra special to have newborn lambs in the surrounding paddocks. Really enjoyed the historical aspect of the entire property.
So interesting learning about the history of the property from the owner.
Definitely recommend a stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at this amazing, historical estate, away from the hustle and bustle of Launnie. Wonderful staff, animals all around, and a trip back in time. Highly recommended!

Wonderfully preserved history, Brickendon Estate is one of 11 convict sites in Australia, six of which in Tasmania. From the stories of the convicts to the buildings and tools used for the many activities conducted on the farm this is a place well worth the visit. With cows, donkeys, geese, ducks and chicken there is something for everyone. We spent just over an hour there and could have spent more time reading more stories (but have the stories in a guide we were given on entry anyway) and discovering the heritage farm but we left it a little late in the afternoon. Suggest slow at least 2 hours. Glad we visited.
