We stayed at Brickendon Pumpkin Cottage on the last night of our Tasmanian holiday, before heading out on the Devonport Ferry.

We found this stay to be the highlight of our trip. The cottage was so comfortable and charming, with everything you could need. We sat outside on the veranda all evening, with a cheese plate and some local wine, enjoying the extraordinary view and the spectacular sense of history of the site. My husband said it was the best place we have ever stayed, in 15 years of holidaying together.

We had thought about staying in one of the convict built residence, but decided on the cottage instead and were so glad we did - private, secluded, peaceful, with a glorious sense of a rolling countryside unfolding in front of us. This was a not to be missed experience.

Remarkable and highly recommended.

The surrounds and farm were beautiful and historic. Cottage was quaint and cosy. Fire wood ready on verandah and fire set in fireplace which ignited as soon as lit. The breakfast supplies were a lovely touch. We had a memorable stay

We loved Brickendon Pumpkin Cottage! Accommodation was so comfortable and well set up. It was a pleasure to stay in a beautifully kept historical building. The provisions for breakfast were very much enjoyed and the fire set, all ready to light, with plenty of wood to keep it going was a delightful touch.
The grounds provide plenty of beautiful, quiet, country vistas to enjoy and the history of the buildings on the grounds is fascinating.
Being able to bring our dog made it all the more enjoyable.
We will definitely return 😊

World heritage listed convict site, many of the old buildings and farm equipment still there to see and photograph. I was only there for a day visit. The accommodation cottages look comfortable from the outside.

Beautiful little historic cottage, perfect place for relaxation. We felt like we had gone back in time. Perfect set up for us and our 2 well behaved English Bulldogs.
Cosy, private, well prepared breakfast provisions and fully self contained for preparing dinner. Definitely will return to spend longer, one night definitely not long enough.

Historic. Calming and just wow. This little gem is well worth the visit. Ducks, chickens, turkeys, fowl of all varieties. Incredible information about the estates beginning and subsequent 7 generations in one family. There were easy access, very clean toilets. The grounds are mostly flat and simple to navigate for 9 years old to 90 year Olds. Give yourself an hour at least and think.about taking the walk over to Woolmers estate. Brilliant.

Felt I had stepped back in time. I prayed in the beautiful chapel. The detailed brochure was very helpful indeed. The buildings and history are so interesting. I recommend Brickendon to visitors but allowing time to really see everything. The receptionist is extremely friendly. The sheep, rabbit, turkeys, ducks add to the experience.

We visited to have a look at the historic sites. It is well kept, the staff are friendly and are happy to just let you wander around at your own pace. The kids loved feeding the animals and throwing the ball for the dog. The gardens across the road could be better signposted and have more signed information around but they are stunning as is the house and cottages. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Lovely cottage/farm stay. From the nighttime sky, the sunrise in the morning to the rooster making his noise in the morning - loved it all! And definitely a must see if you're into historic sites

Wonderfully historic cottages to stay in. Ours had a beautiful little garden. It was very well furnished and some of the best breakfast provisioning ever. It was our own little private haven, much nicer atmosphere than Woolmers. The staff were immediately available when needed and very friendly. It was wonderful to be surrounded by this great tourist attraction.

One of the highlights of my trip - living in the Gardeners' Cottage! It's a dainty old cottage that looks unremarkable from the outside, but it is amazing once you enter (the old-school lock and HUGE key is cool) with great amenities and even an old-school bathtub. And feeding of animals in the morning. One of the highlights of my trip!

Great place to visit with kids. Accommodation was authentic and enjoyed a BBQ outside our cottage iverlooking the paddocks instead of the local pubs which are very very basic. Great supermarket in town. Enjoyed our stay

My husband and I are from Sydney NSW and we had our wedding here.
It was an absolutely wonderful day and everything went perfectly.
From the Chapel (built by convicts in about 1835 I believe) to the beautiful
English gardens and trees, which made glorious backdrops for the photos, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
We look forward to returning Brickendon in the near future as it holds
Lovely memories for us.

On our drive from Cradle Mountain to Hobart we stopped at Brickendon. If you love to know about the early settlers and prisoner labour you should go visit.

We loved the fact we were free to walk around the estate (which is still in use) and open up all the doors to discover the treasures left inside.

The visit was informative and the estate beautiful. I'm glad we chose Brickendon as a stop on our road trip.

Awesome stay. Must do for everyone. Please well worth the stay in the farm cottage, king size beds so comfy, all mod utilities , looks are deceiving . Great farm animals.
