Visited this Church with a friend in May. The parishioners treated us very nicely with a warm welcome, which was great. However the priest strangely denied us Holy Communion. What crime did we commit to be treated as such? We were not public sinners. We simply wanted to receive in the traditional method rather than on the hands. My conscience will not allow me to receive on the hands because I now know that particles break off and fall on the ground to ultimately be sucked up be a vacuum cleaner. That's not how the Lord should be treated in my mind. This is why the position of the Church is very clear. A 5 minute google search brings up all the relevant Church Documents. It is very clear that it is up to the lay person to decide under which method they would like to receive Holy Communion. It is not up to the priest or the bishop. They have no authority to refuse Holy Communion to a person who wants to receive in the traditional method. I travelled all over Australia receiving Holy Communion everywhere in the traditional way. This parish in South Australia was the only place where the priest had an issue. So I suggest that its something that he should reconsider.
