Mount Banks Picnic Area

Amazing place for a day trip if you are in Sydney with your friends and family. You can make it interesting with picnic baskets and pack the boots to take a hike around the National park. Don't forget to put on your sunscreen as there are no shades to keep you cool except for the trees.

Road my bike out to the end of the maintained section of Mt Banks Rd. The view out there is amazing!

This has the only public toilet available for many kilometres. Great to know if you have kids. Picnic tables. Lots of parking. Photo worthy views. Gravel road is well maintained, but not for timid or new drivers. Bring bicycles for a scenic journey around the base of the mountain. This route is an easy walk. If you want a challenge, head for the summit. Flowers in November were amazing.

Visited in the morning a few weeks ago and was rainy day with cloud covering half the mountain/views, everyone liked the views, cycle route advertised but signs at the gate say no bicycles so it's a bit confusing. The climb to Mount banks will be on my to do list, just need to climb it near the top and enjoy the views.

Very nice place, we ended up here waiting for space at the botanical gardens (we were told to go back an hour later)so we drove until we found this little entrance. It is very unassuming. You drive a minute from the road and you come across the most spectacular views with no effort at all. There's also a picnic area with toilets further down.

Great little area off the main road for views over the Blue mountains

Quite remote but with adequate facilities. In any case the views more than made up for it.
