House of Zen

It is extremely sad to see a 20-year old restaurant run by a chef whose experience in Chinese Food spans 4 decades, closing down just because of the impact of Covid. If you crave for real, authentic classic chinese food in a nice quite ambience, where you want to sit, relax and enjoy your wine and then your dinner for a couple of hours, then this is the place to be. Loved the food and everything else about it. Only the fact that they have been struggling for a few years because of Covid shows in furniture and cutlery, etc. But good people of Mitcham, Belair, Blackwoodand surrounds, if there was ever a Mum and Pop business you ought to support, this is it. Come one and all, let's bring this business back to how it was pre-covid times.

We had our book club Christmas in July lunch there yesterday. Lovely staff, great food, and very well priced wine. Happy to recommend.

Beautiful people! Their kitchen was closing and they kindly kept it open and let us order. They were friendly and welcoming and they have huge serving sizes! Ginger fish was delicious! If I were living here this place would be a regular. Thank you again.

Service is friendly and the food never disappoints. We eat here regularly and are always impressed with how lovely the staff are. The decor is cute and a little bit tacky, but it's so comfortable and it's a Chinese restaurant!! It's what I expect and want!

I don't know where that other reviewer ate, but it could not have been House of Zen Belair, or he/she is a competitor! We, family members and friends have eaten there on a number of occasions and everything is perfect. The staff are friendly and inviting, and their service is impeccable! The food is always good, with plenty of variety and the prices are fair and appropriate to the level of the restaurant. We are happy (and do) recommend them and will always go back when we fancy a good, sit down Chinese meal out.

We love the food that Hung cooks. And he usually roams around the tables to make sure you are happy. Try the Prawn Pad Thai but specify exactly how spicy you like it.

Wonderful food and service. The chef comes out personally to speak to customers. He is lovely and very interesting. A long standing local business that deserves our patronage.

I agree with Brian. Service is friendly and even memorable. Hong (don't know who Richard is) remembers favorite meals and is always most gracious. I don't eat meat of land loving animals so can't comment on that (although I've been told the Duck is great) but the red curry is excellent and salt'n'pepper fish to die for.

Got fried rice, beef satay sticks and spring rolls with plum sauce! So tasty! Fried rice is amazing and good quality! Spring rolls are monsters! And the price & timing was so good!

The food was delicious and well cooked, particularly the Four Treasures dish and they also catered well for a Coeliac family member

Ordered take away. Food was delicious and very filling. Definitely one of the better options in the area. Full containers. I recommend the Cantonese Pork.

Eat here!!!! Absolutely delish and highly recommend....Thai/Chinese...beats the over rated Pan Thai at Oaks Pier Plaza by miles....decor dated, yes....can look past the lack of granduer when the food is so good!

The garlic prawns gets a 9 the honey chicken a 8 the rest of the banquet a good quality 7.
